I know it does on other cars but the prime also has a battery charging button so I was wondering if that is needed to be on.
When I use carplay i get a funny icon not like the regular one that shows battery charge and signal strength. Instead i get an icon that is a cellphone with a slash through it. Wonder what that means?
It means you can't use your phone (because the car's system is accessing it). I guess it's an updated icon to the old text that says "unplug accessory before using iPod" (or something to that effect) when I plug in my iPod.
When you plug in your iPhone via the USB port to use carplay, your iPhone will charge. The charge button on the center console is for the wireless phone charger. You cannot use both at the same time. Both operate independently. So to answer you question. You do not need to press the button on the center console to charge your phone if its already plugged in.
I checked with Amazon and found only 2 vendors: Vapeart and Carlinkit. Are these the ones you were referring to, or did you have other brands in mind or other online stores I can get such an adapter?
