Hello all! Last week I heard a soft beep (like the low fuel signal) a few times, but I was not low on fuel. Then one day the check engine light came in, but went off after a couple of days. This morning I heard the soft beep again. I have 99,000 miles on it and an oil change is due soon (sticker says 1/26/21 or 100,000 miles). Any ideas? Is that an indicator to have the oil changed? I have only had this car a year, and I can’t remember from previous oil changes. Thanks so much.
A message should show on your screen indicating Maintenance required soon as soon as you start the car. That is when the oil should be changed. I don't know what the beep is. Do check the oil level between changes though.
I thought I would see a maintenance required message. I will check the oil and report back. Thank you.
Back to identifying the beeping (which is not low oil).....are there any more clues you can give us? Does the beeping happen from when you turn on the car to when you turn it off? Or is it intermittent? If intermittent, is there anything common to when it happens (speed, how long the cars been running, etc.). Are there any lights that accompany the beeping? Finally, you don't have anything heavy on the passenger's seat, do you?
Yea... I was a bit surprised by the likes to my wild guess... We need way more information to be helpful... Whenever there's a beep in my car there is something on the dash the indicates what it means. Sometimes it's the low gas indicator, sometimes the orange safety plug didn't get clicked in place after battery work, sometimes it's the 37' F temp indicator/warning for icy road conditions, sometimes CEL light, sometimes it's bumping the shift lever when driving, sometimes it's when it exits EV mode or is denies my prompt to go into EV mode... So many beeps!!!
Check the button cell in your key fob. If older than two years, or leaking, replace it. In my car, the beep means I have a failing key fob battery. — Bill Burkholder
mine only shows low key battery when I shut the car off, never in the middle of driving. I would imagine Toyota would not design it to come in while your driving, due to safe driving.
