I have a 2020 Prius and bought new seat covers for it. How do I pop the back seat up so that I can install the seat covers? I have only been able to find videos for older models and they are not relevant.
just curious why isn't it relevant? Looking at the images, it should just pull out. Typically toyotas have two hooks that you need to pull up really hard on two sides. SEATS & TRACKS. REAR SEAT COMPONENTS.
Assuming it hasn't changed much from Gen 3, the steel wire framework of the seat cushion has two U-shaped loops in front that poke downward. There are two holes in the body sheet metal there, and there are little plastic clips installed in those two holes, and by design those plastic clips are supposed hold the U loops from the seat cushion with a sort of reasonable pop when you push them in, and release them to you if you just stick your fingers under the front edge of the cushion, feel for near where each loop is, and give a robust upward yoink. However, some of those plastic clips didn't come off the manufacturing line with quite the same tolerances. The first time I pulled the cushion in my Gen 3, one of them was so stubborn I had to get a couple pieces of lumber to pry the cushion with. Then after the cushion was out, I had to pop the plastic clip itself out of the hole in the sheet metal, and unmangle it. At the same time I filed it down a little on the inside, so I could pop that side of the cushion in and out with more reasonable force. The clip on the other side was fine. I think they're mostly ok, just with the occasional oddball.
