I have a 2014 plug in. I need to identify a connection and/or wire for the hybrid battery fans. The pictures posted show the wire harness where the connector is.
The Electrical Wiring Diagram (more info) shows that the connector you’ve circled in yellow is probably junction connector S34. A junction connector doesn’t connect to a part or to another wire harness. Instead, it’s used in place of splices: in this case, three separate splices, to join the wires connected to terminals 1, 2, and 3; to terminals 4 and 5; and to its terminals 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. See the Plug-in Hybrid System and Taillight pages in the System Circuit section of the EWD. The white connector next to it is probably S29, for the electric vehicle charger assembly.
I couldn’t find an illustration of a junction connector just like the one in your photos, but this figure, from the EWD for an earlier Prius model, shows the general idea—the wires are crimped to female terminals, into which shorting terminals are connected to join them: There might not be an obviously separate plug like the one shown above, however. If you look at the end of the connector, opposite the one where the wires enter (that is, the end you’d see from the left in your first photo), is it blank, or does it have openings? If it’s blank, then nothing more is needed. If it has openings, and no shorting terminals inside, then it would be safe to assume there is a separate plug that’s missing, but I don’t know how you’d get a replacement, except as part of the complete Floor No. 2 Wire harness. The Electrical Wiring Diagram gives the part number for a connector housing that takes female terminals (90980-12737), probably a Sumitomo TS 1.5 mm (060) series, not for a junction connector, short terminals, or plug. If nothing else, I suppose you could buy the mating connector housing (90980-12736) and ten repair wires with male terminals (82998-24340) and make your own splices.
You are super Elektro, if I tell you that my prius upgrade has been delayed by this small plug for almost a year. Thanks very much. I don’t know where you live but if you are in Los Angeles area, it will be a pleasure to share a drink or two with you.
