Right on the back of my car is a decal with my dealer's name on it. I want it gone. It's the dealers name but its not a sticker. It appears to be separate letters that feel like felt. I was thinking about alcohol but I wasn't sure if that would damage the paint. Any suggestions? Thanks
You can use dental floss. It will help remove the felt, but may leave some sticky stuff and no it will not damage your paint. Then, use WD40 on a soft cloth to remove any sticky stuff that gets left behind and then just use your favorite wax to buff it up. I've used this method to remove stick on emblems from my cars. Not too sure about the alcohol.
Use a hair dryer to warm the sticker area, lift a corner and keep heating as you pull and it will come off along with most of the adhesive.

I live in an apartment complex so I would not be able to get a blow dryer to my car. So Floss and WD-40 here I come. I'll let you know how it turns out. A heat gun works fine as long as you know how to use it! That's all I use, and have removed ALL the emblems from my car. If you can't get heat to the car, put the car in heat (so to speak). Tough these days, but in the summer around here I can just park the thing in the sun and ALL the adhesives are soft. Heat is the answer for just about all adhesives though. Get 'em warm and peel them off in one motion. If you do it right, there's nothing left to do but wax.
Just ask the dealer (nicely) ... "Please, if you wouldn't mind, would you kindly take YOUR name off MY car" Mine didn't even bat an eye before having a a guy take care of it. And I didn't have to mess up the wax job with WD40.

I have found that getting rear-ended in a parking lot works really well. When the body shop repaints the hatch, they replace the Toyota emblems, but not the dealer ones.

I took the easy way of removing the sticker. I told the dealer I wouldn't take delivery of the vehicle with any dealer advertising on it. They had no problem. I little up front thinking saves time down the road.
Of course I vote for just asking the dealership to remove it from the car since they installed it. That way if they do anything stupid and damage the finish, they repair it. I really do not appreciate when they add their name to a car. I already removed the other emblems on my hatch so the only one left is the round center one that is attached with pins to the car. The remainder are double stick tape and they came off as soon as the car came home. It is just easier to wash and wax without those emblems. Cleaner look too IMO.
I just pulled mine off. There is sticky stuff left so I will have to hit it with the WD40, thanks guys! I HATE DEALER EMBLEMS!! Not only did I have one on the rear, the front license plate holder had their logo blown up and framed in it. In Texas the front plate is not required so they drilled holes in the front bumper of my beautiful Prius for the sole purpose of displaying their logo!!! SHish!!
I have a 2007 'on order.' My plan: Inform the Dealer to *NOT* install a decal or sticker on my new Prius. If their "make ready" department does in spite of my instructions, I will not drive or accept the car until it is removed without paint damage. I would accept a "Dealer" license frame since it can easily be removed.
