So im coming up on 100K miles and priced around to get the engine and inverter coolant done. There is a Toyota Lexus specialist up the street from me that ive used to change my transmission fluid for 95 bucks and a neighbor has used him for years to maintain her old Sienna with 340K on it. My questions is for the coolant changes, and oil change he is a tad bit less but are there any special ways to bleed the system, things he should know how to do when it comes to the coolant? Or is it more simple to go to the dealer for a few bucks more considering they "Should" know what to do? Also the dealer mentioned the inverter would be a drain and refill while the engine would be a flush https://tinyurl.com/y4bqs2p4 Jeff's Lex-Toy Coolant- 295.00 Oil- 58.00 Total:353 - 30 Coupon = 323.00 Toyota of Nashua Coolant- 279.98 Oil- 54.99 Total:334.97
look at Mendel's post. The engine coolant procedure is straightforward. There is some tossing in maintenance mode that needs to be done in order to have the engine running. The inverter change does require to activate the water pump a bit which requires something like the techstream software or equivalent. If they worked on toyotas often, they should know about this software. optionally, you can turn on and off the car continuously to activate inverter coolant pump.
