They look good no leaking. If the car is throwing misfires the check engine light will be blinking. Hope for that it’s easier to fix. imho at that mileage it needs new plugs and cops. Problem with that is OEM cops are expensive like $90 each. When I changed mine at 110,000 miles I was long term planning on it and was buying a cop every 5 months up to it so it didnt hurt me. could be the hybrid battery is really tired the car is a real mutt without a health ly battery and you have to basically floor the car to get anywhere that’s like stage 1 of battery failure. Is the battery going to purple real quick like at a light or drive through if so It’s very tired. Problem there is then all the propulsion power falls on the engine and this 90 horsepower old engine will struggle and not run well.
So I did change the plugs, had oil fouling but tips looked pretty decent imo. Cleaned the throttle body, maf sensor, changed the transmission fluid. It does seem the battery was dying, and there was one of those famous small electrical fires between the connectors for the ECM. We only have one decent Prius mechanic that I know of here in South Florida, and he said definitely the battery is taking a nosedive. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Pretty common. Always inspect that ecu. Take the board out of the metal chassis case lets see that its usually blown up too. I took mine out for inspection when I replaced my battery's with a NPB kit. I don't know why but mine was spotless.I was expecting corrosion based on what I see here. And my battery was on Prolong life support for 3 years.
Because of the ecu rot I think you must have been seeing some battery weirdness for quite a while like erroneous charging or levels going up and down quickly or the red triangle of death. Be good to known what the definitive driving symptoms are for the rotted ecu. I never saw that on my battery just poor performance. I dont know why but my ecu was mint. i was fully ready to see rot. It was the first thing I I checked and was shocked.
