My tires were completely shot. To the point one totally blew out; that’s what I get for delaying dealing with locking wheel nuts and no key.

Found gen 3 wheels on fb for $200 on yokohamas all around with 10/32 tread. Guy worked for toyota and had tons of lock key sets and I found the key for my wheel locks!

Wheels look obviously not stock but not terrible. Car drives MILES better.

My suggestion if you need tires - check fb marketplace and people are giving away wheel and tire combos all the time.

Are gen 2 rims (without covers) that much different? I had a notion they were about the same.

Good you've got centre caps on. Those hubs rust (uncovered) if it even LOOKS like snow...

Gen 2 oem alloys have 6 spokes. I kind of like the Gen 2 wheels without the covers on.

I recently swapped out a set of gen 2 wheels with my gen 3 to verify noise issue after front bearing replacement.
And I actually like gen 2 wheels on gen 3 with cover on!

Should have took some photos! LOL

I should say it’s driving better because it’s on brand new yokohamas, instead of bald walmart tires that were garbage. I don’t think the wheels make much of a difference. I just got these because they were cheap and available.

Yeah people selling third gen 15" rims are finding it hard, even almost giving them away. Unless they're PIP rims... :sneaky:

    Interesting :D

I have Prius 2 gen. with rims from 3 gen 15' as in #1 post, and i want to buy original 16' rims dedicated to 2nd gen.

In my opinion, in 15 inches, the wheel looks a bit like a balloon :))

Agree, a little too much tire, it's all about the mpg.

Going to put 16 inch Subaru Imprezza wheels on our Gen3 when the current set of tires are done. Screenshot_2020-05-07-14-57-29-1.jpeg

I went Subaru on my 2nd gen. I like it, it's a bonus that it's now all wheel drive. FILE164.JPG

Nice, were you able to weigh the rims without tires? The gun metal color looks good. :thumbs up:

I've found a set of 17" Avensis wheels for the prius with almost new tires for €175. I think they look awesome!!! Much better than the stock wheels I bought it with. Stock has all seasons on it and will be mounted in November till April. Not that winters in Holland are that bad, but it can be bad with heavy rain nowadays.

Did you go up to 195s or stick with 185 tires?

Can you give a update when possible?
What is the drive like with these Gen 3 rims 15 oem?

Have been considering getting a set of 4 either 15oem gen 3 or custom 15 inch for my 08Gen2

These look fantastic and you got them for a great price. Thanks for the inspiration - these are now my choice of wheel upgrade and I'm off looking for a used set. Are the original wheel nuts OK (16 touring wheels)?

Wheel nuts are equal and it's an easy swap. I have the stock 16 with all seasons mounted due to "winter" conditions, but what a (negative) difference in noise and feel. I'm not a big fan of all seasons, but they came with the car and winter tires are not that popular anymore to sell afterwards... Bit for these 4 months the stock wheels will do.

Edit: this was the reason I went for toyota wheels and not aftermarket. I know the bolts will fit like they suppose to... And I like the "original" look for a car, I know these wheels are not, but at least they are Toyota.
