I recently bought a new car and unfortunately haven’t cranked my 2008 Prius in a month or two. The battery was completely dead and after jumping it, it displayed the red triangle (of death!) as well as the check engine light. After running for a few minutes to allow the engine to charge, I tried to re-crank and it displayed check engine light and then died again. I’ve had the red triangle a few years ago, and it ended up needing a new water pump. please tell me she i didn’t kill her!! I’m mad at myself because I knew better than to go that long without running it.
Do you have any OBD2 codes that you could share with us? Best to start by checking the health of the 12v battery at the jump points under the hood, and or replace it if needed.
It's possible you just need to charge up the 12v and charge and balance the hybrid battery and all will be well again. Let us know what region you live in and maybe someone on here lives near you and they can help?
It pays over and over again to own a quality dvm. If you have one Before doing anything I would check the battery voltage at the front jump point if it measures 0.00 volts that tells me that battery has sat dead for quite a while and with the tiny load on it has stayed flat stone dead which means sulphation will quickly begin which means that battery is toast. It’s going to be bad winter not sure where you live but you don’t want to get Stuck with a dead 12. Having said this enjoy recharging it lol....
Please share your full address so that I might inform the po-po on what is clearly felony car endangerment. Consciousness of guilty rules out any insanity defense
