Driving through winding canyons and up and over the Hollywood Hills today, my ABS went out and the regenerative brake with it. Definitely stressful, but still could stop. After parking for an hour, drove her on straight & flat roads, the ABS & all came back, as if nothing had happened. Then went away again while going back over the hills and came back again after being parked for a a few hours. I don't have an OBDII reader that can access ABS. With it being intermittent, does a faulty sensor seem reasonable? I just changed all the brakes myself a few weeks ago, but didn't mess with the sensors at all. +5mpg for posting
Try and clean them if you can. Yes this is what happens and you will eventually have to replace a speed sensor and if you dont then you will get your hybrid battery weak and get more lights than you want. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
My driver's side front speed sensor had broken open and wires were exposed... Yikes. Easy replacement fix. +5mpg for posting
It is possible to read the ABS codes without a scanner, by jumpering 3-14 on the OBD port. Count the flashes...
