P0A80 pops on along with yellow triangle and red battery

    So I just got this car going as some of you know. I do not know the history other than it appears to be well kept. So this problem is the check HYBRID BATTERY warning. I can reset it and it will do just fine for a few miles depending on what all is one, like headlights heater vs nothing. It seems I can go longer with everything off before the HYBRID BATT warning along with the yellow triangle. IF I continue driving the battery red light also comes on. So I was able to get the code P0A80. Which if I clear it, it does the same thing. So put the Dr Prius on it "free version". I monitored it while driving and it seems a couple of cells were down but would flash up at times. The battery was at like 60% and it seemed if it dropped below 55% the code would kick the warnings talked about above. So I'm thinking about the prolong to see if I can push up the weak cells. I've also seen this

    Is this thing junk or has anybody tried it?

    Has anyone had a similar problem with a fix not being cell or battery replacement?

    Oh yeah also had the 12b battery checked and Autozone said it was good at like 12.80v.

    I also put a voltmeter on the 12v battery while car was running and it was well over 14v's like 14.8.

    Oh yeah not that matters but maybe. So before it throws the code and warning I can put in EV or whatever and it appears to be working as expected. ECO kinda low on power and POWER mode much better until it throws the code then the light for whichever goes out and back to default driving. I no longer get a choice.

    Which WIFI Ob2 to use with Dr prius paid version? I only have a bluetooth and don't want to get the wrong one.

    usually, when the car throws the code, it's too late for a grid charger.

    The Prolong system is rated very well and does what it was designed to do.
    It is possible it could prolong the life of the battery.
    Since you don't know the history, it could have just been sitting for months at a time.
    How many miles of the car?

    The Prolong system with charge, then discharge the cells, 3 times I think, to different levels.
    This is what can revitalize the cells.

    You should go to there page and read all the info on it. And perhaps phone them and talk to them.

    You might want to also check the vent for the fan(hybrid). It could be dirty.
    You would probably get a different code for overheating though.
    And you could also pull the cover for the hybrid battery and check the contacts.

    I read on PC that someone had done that and they were pretty nasty. He cleaned them up,
    cleared the codes and they didn't come back.

    It has 206xxx on it. I'd say it sat for a couple of weeks before I got it unclear beyond that. It wouldn't go anywhere when I got it because someone vandalized the wiring. The oil looks great and has stayed to full each time I have checked it. So at least I know the owner changed the oil freq or so it seems. I will look at the vent and pop the cover to look at the terminals.

    My daughter has a 2011 so I may just get the prolong to use for both.

    Does anyone know which WIFI OB2 to get for the Dr Prius or which one they are using?

    A bluetooth obd2 works with the paid version.

    I would not trust that ebay hv charging product and certainly would not pay $400 for it. Anytime their claims say "may help" and "most cases" they are leaving themselves an out when it does not work. A warranty against "manufacturing defects" does not mean they will take it back when it fails to fix your battery, it just means they will fix it if it burns out.

    The biggest lie is dealers will sell a battery for "an average of about $4200.00" and "they will sell you a refurbished unit”.     Even properly refurbished units like you can buy online or from an auto supply simply have bad cells replaced with better used cells. The fix rarely works for long although some diyers change cells themselves to limp along. A refurb would have to be less than a $1000, guaranteed with a swap out, nearby and from a real business before I would consider refurb. Unless you are doing diy.

    Depends on the code... If you have a failed module or bad voltage sensing harness it won't help... But if your pack is out of balance or in need of reconditioning it will definitely help.

    So i wanted to see what my percentage was with battery test but when I tried to run the test in DRIVE with the gas pedal smashed it was as if the motor wouldn't, won't accelerate. It just wants to idle which is weird to me. Has anyone else had this problem? The car will accelerate just fine just not when I have my foot on the brake and its true in DRIVE or REVERSE.

    Has anyone else had this problem while attempting the battery test with the dr prius app?
