Car won't start and dash lights keep flashing, but I know it's not the battery!! I put a brand new one in and a battery charger!! And still the dash lights keep flashing and car won't start!! Is there something else besides the battery that might be causing this ??

Usually means your hybrid battery is needing attention. I just bought a new gen 3 set for $2600 from GREEN TECH AUTO they came to my home and installed the new batteries. Took them about an hour and they were gone. Stealership will charge you as much as they can to get you to dump your wallet and future in their hands. IDK why car companies allow this relationship to continue the model is terrible and people can avoid them now that we have the internet to hook up with qualified techs. Hell we could probably order our cars online too.

You say it's not the battery, I am not so sure....

At any rate, as long as you do it by the book, properly and don't reverse polarity or anything, I think if it were mine I would try to jumpstart it.

If it starts, well, you narrowed it down to something wrong with your battery. If you don't want to do that, check the negative cable connection for the 12v first and make sure it is good.

If you have a multi-meter, you could check the voltage at the jump point in the fuse box and see what reading you get....

Just a couple of quick easy things I would check before I would get all excited about it being something other than a simple issue with the 12v.

    Good hunting.

Sounds like a Green Tech Employee/owner.

If not a Green Tech Employee/owner, a fool and his money are soon parted.
You need to search better. Next time search "Genuine Toyota Parts." This search will produce some bigh auto parts stores that sell non OEM Toyota Parts. But you will also find actual Toyota Dealers who sell online, at a sizeable discount compared to their walkin counter parts price.

$2600 for a used HV Battery, allegedly made from Gen3 module, 3 year warranty. Vs. 100% BRAND New OEM Toyota HV Battery for $2070, 1 year warranty when not installed by Toyota. 3yr warranty when installed by Toyota, but you will have to pay for that. Many people are short sighted and buy a used HV Battery b/c cheaper upfront, and they like the warranty duration. Many of these people come to regret their purchase.

If original Gen2 owners got many trouble free years and mileage close to or a little over 150K miles, do you think a used/rebuilt/refurbished HV Battery will do the same?

Thank You for the compliment. Its great to be in good company, as it takes one AH to know another AH.

Is my fellow AH aware that the only source for NEW OEM Gen3 modules come from Toyota? But, Toyota does not sell indivudual modules, but only sells modules that are assembled in an HV Pack (minus the ECUs), specific for the Gen 2, Gen3, Prius c, and Prius v(agon), due to the case the modules sit in. Granted, Panasonic is the likely maker of Toyota's HV Battery modules, but there will be a iron clad exclusivity agreement in place that excludes Panasonic from selling these modules to anyone, other than Toyota.

Now I have a hard time believing that any company/person would buy a new Gen3 pack from Toyota, only to disassemble the pack so these "NEW," modules could be inserted into your Gen2 case? Logic would say you order a New Gen2 pack to make life easy. Green Techs warranty length compunds the problem. Toyota gives HV Batteries a 1 year warranty when not installed by a Toyota dealership. When a New HV Pack is installed by a Toyota dealership, you get a 3 year warranty. Green Tech is not a recognized Toyota Dealership. Hmmm.

The fact that you say "Gen3 was the best you could get," leads me to infer used Gen3 modules. But, you may be correct, as I was not there to see the dissasembly & reassembly process, nor any paperwork to substantiate Green Techs claim of NEW Gen3 modules.

It is your money and car, so do as you please. But, you could have done better.

Hmm. yeah, on rare, very rare occassions, it gets a bit heated here...

But, do some more simple things to rule out the 12v. Go for the simple first (and I do not know what brand of 12v you put in, but lots of folks here have reported trouble with Optimas....me, I stuck with the Toyota part for that particular project).

    HiHi!
My 2007 just freaked out with non start after having started 5 minutes before (moved car in driveway) and flashing dash.
Initially the open driver for alarm was having a crap attack WITHOUT the fob in its slot and cat was off.
My first thought was fob but then everything got crazy looking and I made room in my brain for terribleness.
Might The fob do these things?

unlikely. start with the 12v vote health. if that passes muster, have the trouble codes read.
