I was driving then the car lost power suddenly. It could not accelerate. All the dashboard lights came on! I pulled over and checked the oil. It was at the required level ( I had just changed it). I disconnected the battery and waited 10 min. The car started and drove fine after that scare. On my way home I stopped at a gas station. The car could not go to Drive...only Neutral. On the third try it got on Drive and I went straight home..Phew!!

Did you get the recall update from dealer? The Recall update the Hybrid program from shut down.

Aux battery and integration relay are main suspects.

    Have you checked for codes?

My 2010 did something similar when the coolant pump started to go bad. Even though the check engine light went out, there was still an archive of the coolant pump code (not the inverter coolant, but the more regular "water pump"). We really only got the one warning, then I cleared the code and we drove it for more than a week with no issues until it went completely out and I had to get it towed from the side of a rural interstate, where I could make the repair.

Could be the 12v battery. Could be the coolant pump. Could be any number of things, but even if you don't have an active Check Engine Light, it wouldn't hurt and would only take a few minutes to see if there are any codes.

Edit: Looking back at my post on the subject, I also had a "Check Hybrid System" message appear when the pump first blinked. You didn't mention that message, so maybe you didn't, but it still wouldn't hurt to see if there are any codes.

    Good luck!

Are we sure the inverter or its cooling system are not to blame?
