Hi , New to the forum, bought Gen 4 prius few weeks ago second hand. Passenger door windows are tinted . I want to remove the tint, is it possible or the actual glass is of that colour. Any suggestion will be great. Thanks Fkhan
Or prev owner install. You can peel it off and wash down the glass. Start with the smallest window, see how that goes.
This is AUSTRALIAN delivery - and the answer is NOPE. It's part of the glass. I doubt UK is different - but another UK member will know.
Well then that's the actual glass as far as I know. Factory usually doesn't apply film and usually tints the glass directly.
GOOGLE says "Factory tinted glass contains pigments and dyes that are added to the glass during the manufacturing process."
Yes - wondering why you would want to remove it? Here in Australia, it has become the norm for most new cars now. It is only some cheap base model cars which don't have it. I'd actually be surprised if you can source non-tinted glass for it.
I don't have Privacy glass on my UK spec Excel model, looks like after market film to me. The front side windows have a slightly different tint to the rear side windows which may be due to the front windows having rain repellent and laminated glass? I was thinking about tinting mine, but have never got round to it.... three years later
Mine had factory tint - but was only noticeable on the back windows - I had light aftermarket tint put on within a couple of days of getting the car.
No, just UV protection. My old 2012 Prius+ had optional pull up sun blinds in the doors, not sure if that's available for the Prius.
Mericans love dark windows. . Me.. not so much. my 2016 has factory tinted windows on the rear, quarter panel, and rear window. Looks like a tinted window from the outside' but not too much tint from the from inside.I can see the road. I think it’s perfect.
