Hello all, First post, so if I do something wrong or leave something out that needs to be addressed, then please let me know... I bought my car from an auction. It has high mileage 196k. I have gone through and replaced a number of parts and cleaned some parts that needed some TLC. I have replaced the spark plugs, PCV valve, and a number of missing bolts and nuts. I have been trying to find the part number or the dimensions for a few bolts. There are 2 bolts on top of the valve cover that I am missing. One bolt is missing from in between where the spark plugs are connected. It is in between cylinder 1 and cylinder 2 on the valve cover. See the picture below: One bolt is missing that looks like it grounds a wire to the top of the valve cover. See the second picture below: Part numbers would be great because the Toyota dealer parts department that I went into couldn't tell me anything. Smh. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The hole in the first picture might be for the friction insert plastic rivet that holds the engine cover,
@Georgina Rudkus in all the videos and pics that I have seen of the exposed engine cover the missing part seems to be a metal bolt and a washer I believe. See the picture below from a video from 1A Auto. It's the bolt above the engine oil filler cap and between cylinder 1 and 2.
@Paul E. Highway I have searched through the exploded views on the aforementioned parts for Toyota site before and gave it another lengthy look the last hour or so. I cannot find a view that shows the bolts that are missing from above. If you know of a diagram, or a view that I can examine, then please attach a link or a screen shot.
That A1 Auto pic helps a lot. I watch them too... Please don't quote me on this and my last link on ebay should show you why. According to the parts diagram at parts.toyota.com and it ain't easy to find CYLINDER HEAD. 2010 Toyota Prius Hatchback HYBRID | Toyota to the best I can figure - lists the bolt and washer/grommet as bolt 11201H gromet 11201B But in the diagram when I click on the DOT next to the part number it links to part 11201A which is 4 bucks cheaper. Both parts are available. A bit of searching with those part #'s and description of part brings up part numbers Bolt Flange - Toyota (90105-A0217) Engine Valve Cover Grommet - Toyota (90210-06013 soft links to the guys I usually buy from (if they have it in stock) Bolt Flange 90105-A0217 | Toyota Parts 1985-2020 Toyota Engine Valve Cover Grommet 90210-06013 | Toyota Parts here's a link to Gen3 Valve Cover Replacement Guide (if it helps) Gen 3 Valve Cover Gasket Replacement Guide? | PriusChat And the main reason I'm still not sure - take a look here Toyota Prius 1.8L Engine Head Valve Cover w/ Top Oil Cap & Bolts 2010-2015 OEM | eBay Maybe if you measure the depth of the hole? Than call with the part number and see if it's close? I can't really see a hole for the second missing bolt and I don't have one to look at....
@vvillovv that looks like the best information to date. I looked at the Toyota parts site for like 2.5 hours clicking everything, but that because why would they put it in the cylinder head components when it's for the valve cover. Smh. I should have just clicked it, too. I'll check out the pricing at the link you use, and call the Toyota spot, too. Thanks. bolt 11201H gromet 11201B
@vvillovv I followed the eBay link and I'm positive that that image is missing 1 bolt. There should be 17 total for the engine valve cover per the repair manual. There are 12 around the perimeter and 4 for the ignition voils, plus the 1 bolt that I'm missing to get to 17. I was able to get some pages from the repair guide from another member in another post that discusses the number of bolts and torque specs just not the bolt sizes.
I use https://www.toyodiy.com/ if I need part number. Here you can enter your VIN or search on part number. Search there is quite easy.
Just a quick update: - Missing Valve Cover Bolt 1 I will be ordering the bolt that goes into the valve cover between cylinder 1 and cylinder 2 from the dealer, tomorrow. The diagram listed on the toyota parts website under cylinder head then clicking more items was the key to finding that missing bolt. Thanks to everyone who helped me find this missing bolt. - Missing Valve Cover Bolt 2: (Ground Bolt) I was able to determine that the other bolt that I was missing is the ground bolt for the engine. It doesn't pop up on any diagram, so I followed another member's suggestion and tried another couple of bolts from the same area. The best match that I found was the bolt from the ignition coil wiring harness on the cabin side of the engine. So, I just took it down to an auto parts store that sells nuts and bolts. So, if anyone else is missing this same bolt I'll attach the sizing in a picture message and post it here. Just in case some people have issues with the picture loading, here is the size you need: M6-1.0x16mm Thanks everyone. I still have some work to get the car back to road ready, but I appreciate all the help here!
