I have a 2012 Prius and the steering wheel controls just quit working and the buttons don’t even light up when the lights are on. Is there a fuse that would affect that or any other ideas?
It could also be the clock spring cable. It does seem a little odd to me that everything would quit at once. That would take some doing, but if something came unplugged it could happen. As @Pluggo said, everything is protected by fuses, but if the things the steering wheel controls operate using other controls, the kind of rules out all those fuses and no other blowing at once. Hi Jason, There's a "IGN" fuse that powers the micro-controller that operates the touch sensors on the steering pad switch that you could check. As for why a clock spring might cause all functions to fail at the same time, there are only a couple of wires for the pad switches that go through the clock spring for each set of switches. Each switch routes the wires through a different resistor, so the the control unit can tell which switch is being pressed, even though there's not a set of wires for each switch. If only one wire breaks, all function is lost for the set of switches. The clock spring (spiral cable) is a pretty good guess based on the symptom, but it's better to test than guess. The part is over $600 from Toyota, but there are clones on Amazon for about $80. Search the part number 84307-47020 on Amazon or EBay.
