I was hanging out with my kid brother (14, just got MySpace) and he told me he had a video I just had to watch. Has anyone seen/heard the new Weird Al song or video, White and Nerdy? At first, I just laughed. As it went on, I was struck with the absolute certainty that we were looking at what my life would have been had I been male. It was scary. I had maybe almost convinced myself that the boobs were not the deciding factor, and that I probably would not have belonged in Revenge of the Nerds regardless... and then they gave him a Prius. And THEN I realized that no, the boobs didn't matter, I totally am White and Nerdy anyway. ::sigh:: Ah well, at least I have the coolest car ever B) Choice bits: ...Shoppin' online for deals on some writable media I edit Wikipedia I memorized Holy Grail really well I can recite it right now and have you R-O-T-F-L-O-L... ...Only question I ever thought was hard Was "Do I like Kirk or do I like Picard?"...
http://priuschat.com/Weird-Al-t24714.html I wrote the lyrics out but I'm having some issues with some of the words.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rancid13 @ Oct 4 2006, 05:59 PM) </div> The origin of the word "Nerd" is disputed. It may have been first used in a 1950 story by Dr. Seuss, If I ran the zoo. See link (click on etymology) http://dictionary.oed.com/cgi/entry/003232...;max_to_show=10
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(heliotropehead @ Oct 5 2006, 02:46 PM) </div> I love the Duchamp quote. A bit like "I wouldn't want to join any club that would have somone like me as a member".
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(heliotropehead @ Oct 5 2006, 01:46 PM) </div> No way, that was written about me...programmer, web sites, minesweeper records, ren fest attendee/juggler, memorize extended pi, edit wikipedia, own a Prius, appreciate M.C.Escher... all true except I never learned to play chess - but my son wants to, so it almost counts. And I don't have the Holy Grail memorized, just a couple lines my friends liked to repeat ("bring out yer dead!").
I know how to lose at chess and that should count for something. Also, my brother thinks he's a gangster and I sometimes go places(roll) with him. I drink Earl Grey, eat mayo on everything and my dog does have a homepage. Hate Kirk, like Picard... but love Spock. Even named my cat after him. I'm not a huge fan of Weird Al, but the new album is pretty kickin'. <-White & nerdy
I know pi to 23 places but not a thousand and I do play chess lol. I don't drink Earl Grey, I don't have action figures (Lego Bionicles don't count)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Oct 5 2006, 03:52 PM) </div> I play chess (very badly) I guess anyone who looks up the origin of the word "nerd" qualifies as one ipso facto.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tideland Prius @ Oct 5 2006, 02:52 PM) </div> Gah! I only know pi to 21 places! Looks like I have some homework ahead of me. He needs a line about tracking your gas mileage in a spreadsheet... And I think Bionicles do count. My former cubemate had a lifesize cutout of Bobba Fett, but sold his sizable lego collection on e-Bay, I think he qualifies too.
Hey! I kind of resemble that . . . <_< That's my lawnmower! I have a Prius . . . and a soldering gun. I prefer Picard . . . (I even overlook the fact he is French  ) AV club . . . not really a club, but, since third grade, I was the big kid and the teachers trusted me not to break anything. For me, it was an excuse to get out of class! Chess . . . you don't want to play me. I'LL KICK YOUR nice person!!! But, as an overwhelming offsets: I enjoyed organized sports and am into all kinds of outdoor sports, had girlfriends since I was 12, was a lifeguard (beat the girls off with a stick . . . at least some of them ), and joined the military . . . and NEVER had a nerd friend – even though I was kindly toward them . . . they were funny to observe.
