The Prius does not have 5 star rollover resistance, only 4 stars, but that still a lot better than SUVs and pickups.
The extra weight of the battery probably helps lower the center of gravity a little bit as well. 4 stars is actually a range from 3.50 stars to 4.499 stars anyway.
A gen 3 Prius liftback may be a 4.2 or 4.3 while an SUV with 4 stars may be a 3.5 or 3.6. I think an SUV, Pickup, or Minivan could have rolled over a dozen times or more in the exact same situation especially when the tires start digging into the dirt going sideways at 50 to 70 mph. Go to 6:54 in the video to see the Prius.

Amazing how some of the drivers (doing the recording) are extremely poor drivers themselves. I would say they also fall into the category of DB drivers......

Pickup is a jerk, Prius is an awful driver (left lane camping, ridiculous overreaction to getting cut off, had a chance to save themselves from going back into the median but ruined it by oversteering).

Regardless, video could have ended a lot differently say if the grass was wet/muddy, the Prius could have ended up in the opposite lane in a head-on collision. Drivers should absolutely never "sacrifice themselves" by leaving the paved road surface at moderate to high speeds to avoid a collision.

Good chance that if braking wasn't enough to avoid the collision, if the Prius maintained their lane and contact was made with the Prius steering into it, the angles look right for the pickup to have been PITed into the median. All I know is I would not leave the roadway in this situation. My own dash cam and the statement that "I was afraid to get pushed into the grass and lose control" would absolve me of fault in this situation.

They kinda spun themselves out turning into the dirt, I guess better than the road if you're not sure who's around you in that moment.

And they wernt totally sideways, still appeared to handle it well (the car that is...not the driver).
