Guys recently i got a 2017 Prius , which doesn't have SD card/DVD for navigation or traffic , is there anyway to install the maps on a DVD by myself? or i have to take to dealer? as i checked online some blogs had explained how to do it but i don't trust everything i see, so what do you think ? thanks
The Toyota map databases sold in North America, Europe, and Japan contain maps only for those regions. I don’t know if it’s possible to use a factory-installed Toyota navigation system with a map database for a region that is different from the one where the car was first sold. I imagine a Toyota dealer in your country could tell you about map databases with local coverage and whether they would be compatible with your car. You might find it easier to install an aftermarket navigation system from Garmin or TomTom, for example. Those companies publish map databases of the Middle East that work with their products.
I checked here there is no maps available, so I'm wondering whether I can install it by my own on a DVD or purchase it from outside with ME maps Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
As far as I know—and I’d be glad to be proved wrong—it’s not possible to use a third-party map database with the Toyota navigation systems installed in fourth-generation Prius cars.
I hope that also, I hope that someone here can confirm that you are wrong, hehe As I really need away to enable the navigation Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
An update for this case , after long discussion with the local authorized dealer , they said the SD card will cost 1000 USD++!! and need around 3 months minimum to arrive as they need to request it from outside, the small SD card will cost more than 1000 Dollar!
