My brother recently bought a used 2015 Prius Model 1 as a "daily driver." Any suggestions for good LED headlamp bulb replacements of the H11 variety, since the Prius Gen III uses H11 halogen bulbs in OEM installation?
I don't know much about the LED H11's but I hear the scatter the light more so than the Xenons. I just installed the Morimoto Elite kit from the retro source and they are epic! Highly recommend.
I use VLED's in mine. Big difference in light output over OEM halogens. Really tho, the HID/LED argument really boils down to personal preference.. Tho there are some REAAALL cheap LED's out there with bad cooling and will die on you in 3 months or less... Similar with HID... With these, at least in my experience, you get what you pay for / YMMV. Bulb type will stay the same tho.. If you use H11 OEM, then its H11 aftermarket.
I got a kit from Cougar Motor they are so far so good. This kit comes with everything that you need to just plug and play. I found them on Amazon.
Right on, I have VLEDs also. Went w/Micro Evolutions because it draws only 1.4 amps total per H11. Vleds has the Micro Extreme, even brighter than the Evolutions but draws 4 amps per H11.
I have the micro also. I really like them. The install was the only thing I felt was a bit wonky due to the adjustable direction (Which is helpful for the bulb to be in the right position for proper light out put when locked in..) But the way they made the version I have, as soon as you get it set, the dang bulb twists out of alignment.. Seems they have a newer version of this tho, which I would totally upgrade for. Bought mine in May 2018 and they are still just as bright as the day I put them in. Last set I got off of Amazon, dead in 3 months....
I am taking out the dim blue LEDs a former owner put in, going back to top of the line Sylvania H11. More light, better pattern by far.
