Grinding noise up front when stopping?

    There is a very loud metal like grinding on the front of my nieces 2009 prius, pulled both front tires off & rotors are not ate up and plenty of pad left.... Any ideas? I have yet to check the codes because when I went over there today the battery was dead from sitting too long. We put a charger on it & I should be back over there tomorrow to run the codes....

    maybe soething caught between a pad and rotor?

    I seriously doubt there is something caught between pad/rotor. I'm just wondering if the back brakes may have tricked my brain into believing it was the fronts?

    spend the time to pull the caliper off and really check the brake pads for any issues? Also lift the car up and get under and take the time to visually check the entire front area for anything that seems off.

    Entirely possible.
    Also possible that the rotors/drums have some surface rust from sitting idle so long.

    The bearings are another possibility to check.
