    Tesla (TSLA) is getting new battery cells from Panasonic with faster charging capacity - Electrek

    Looks like the industry leader is in the process of enlarging their lead.

    Yet Panasonic is Japanese - so major Japanese players will have this available as well for their vehicles if needed (hint Toyota)

    first - its proprietary. A joint venture between Tesla & Panasonic. You can be sure all those possibilities were decided long before the chemistry went into production. Mike they sell worldwide to other purchases someday? Maybe.
    Second - Toyota has expressly said batteries aren't ready for Primetime (despite the millions of Eevee's running around successfully worldwide) and so they want to wait, maybe not until a solid state chemistry is out and proven.

    I figure Tesla is sharing their patents with a reasonable royalty for any sold to others than Tesla. In effect, tax the others for Tesla's R&D to design and develop these awesome, 4680 cells.
