What feature do you wish your Prius had?

Pulling your legs :lol: that's how much it cost here in Quebec, Canada with the ridiculous exchange rate that Toyota did NOT readjust yet and our famous TAX on TAX (combines to 13.95%).

Must not forget the tax break! A whopping 1k$ Cnd.

I'm the perfect example of a guy that could have bought a SUV (many are cheaper) instead.

Before you guys cry for me, my 300K$ home is worth 1M$ +, one hour drive of downtown Boston, NY or Toronto. Instead I'm a whopping 25 mins from downtown Montreal, and on the island, no bridges to cross.

So my Prius cost the same as a Puerto Rican buying one...and they sure buy lots of SUV's over there.

I WANT A MUTE BUTTON !!!!! I LISTEN TO LOUD MUSIC SO PEDESTRIANS CAN HEAR ME COMING, AND HAVE TO PRESS A DOZEN TIMES ON THE SOUND DOWN BUTTON TO HEAR THEIR QUESTIONS !!!!

Well, after knocking off my passenger side mirror puling out of my garage, I wish the Prius had power folding mirrors like our Volvo.

 

I would like a remote start,so i could thaw out the car before entering it after a snow or ice storm.Also wish toyota had an indoor temp display to go with the outdoor!looks like ill be stoping at walmart to see what they have.

 

Side signal mirrors.

 

1) Slot for a cell phone SIM card, so that there is no need for an external cellphone that needs to be charged up regularly but never overcharged, for those of us who never want to use a cellphone outside of their cars. I just want to set it and forget it. The additional circuitry needed would be extremely inexpensive, just a few bucks, it would work better and more reliably, and it would free up an electrical outlet.

2) Use regenerative breaking during cruise control while going down hills, so that the set speed is not exceeded.

3) Popup display of name whenever song or disk changes.

4) Blind spot mirrors, if they can't easily fix the problem.

And of course, all of the standard things that they already plan to bring like pluginability and the larger engine which will give me better mileage at higher speeds.

--An instantaneous MPG readout independant of the MFD
--A NAV system that's designed for older folks like myself (i.e., easier to use with *fewer* features)
--Solar cells in the roof which power a ventilation fan while the car is parked (a la the Mazda 929 from the mid-90's)
--A telescoping steering wheel

And if I could find someone to install them, I'd go for the mirrors that have been discussed but am nervous about doing it myself. While great diagrams are better than poor English, the lack of any English in the directions scares me!

Something I will take care of soon that I should have put on my list: a beefier horn.

• Bundle a weather radio option into the navigation package. It would be relatively trivial to keep track of your location in a region with the GPS and flash a weather report on screen when you enter a zone with severe weather.
• Have Majel Barrett-Roddenberry do the navigation voice next time. I'd pay serious money for the computer's voice from Star Trek to be in my Prius. Toyota really should have gone to Paramount and licensed the the LCARS interface along with her voice. Heck maybe have themes you could order. One is the voice from Star Trek. Maybe Pilot from Farscape? Homer from the Simpsons. DOH! When you miss your turn and it has to recalc. Jay from Clerks. On second though scratch that one. This car caters to geeks. Lean on that aspect.
• On screen line guides when you put the car in reverse to give you a real idea as to how far away things are. At night its not so much a problem with the light that is turned on making a halo effect on the ground but during the day its hard to gauge.
• CF 2 slot in the armrest for a microdrive or CF card for music.
• REAL iPod integration. DICE may be all well and fine but there is no coverart and AFAICT you can't scroll through your playlists, albums, songs.

Heated mirrors - why make 'em powered but not heated
12v accessory outlet somewhere useful like in the cabin and not hidden away in the cubby box.
12v accessory outlet in the rear
Alloy wheels without the plastic trims. I guess they are there for a reason?
A better rear wiper

I haven't got my Prius yet but it's due in about a week. It's a black T4 and I can't wait even though I'll dreadfully miss my modified 2003 Celica T Sport

Huh? I'm pretty sure mine opens whenever I want it to, whether or not the car is "ready". I know that when we drop the kids off to karate, they just go back and open the hatch to get their gear out and I don't have to shut the car down at all.

 

It already comes with a lot of nice goodies, but since you asked:

1. Turn signal lights on side mirrors (like the Honda hybrid).
2. Daytime running lights (DRL).
3. Separate fog light option, not part of bigger packages.
4. Adjustable slope/tilt on drivers seat, manual OK.
5. Remote hatch release.

 

1. More supportive and adjustable seats (like VW seats). I don't have back problems but my back gets tired after very little time driving. The Prius seat feels cheap and thin. (I'm not a heavy person but I feel like I sink to the bottom.)
2. heated and a/c seats
3. black finish on front bumper so bugs don't show;
4. CD player that plays all CD formats
5. built-in vacuum cleaner (I can dream)

I can't believe I've come up with a list -- other than the seats, I am very happy.

 

In order of importance:

Handling: ie improved suspension
Climate controls independent of the touch screen (3 big dials like my VW TDI)
Rear camera instead of rear view mirror. (I flipped my mirror 180 degrees so I can see out the windshield but now it is pretty useless for seeing behind me)
Lower seats: I feel like I'm sitting in a minivan not a car.
Lower Roof: For better aerodynamics due to lower frontal area.
