Just bought a 2021 XLE which comes with no spare and the sealant/air compressor option, which I don't like. Was able to find a brand new mini spare on Ebay form a 2018. Question, is it possible to switch out the styrofoam packing from my XLE with an LE which I believe has the mini spare, so I can fit it under the back panel?
Yes, I just finished my 2020 Prius with very little cost $135 and my time. Went to the dealer first and found that it was way too costly and opted for the used market. Primary search was OfferUp and some Craigslist for both spare and the 3 trunk foam. For the spare I search for "Corolla spare" because there seem to be more listing in my area and at a lower cost. The Corolla has the same spare as the Prius, just make sure it is 2016 and up. Reason for 2016 and up is I didn't want too old of a tire on the spare. Just make sure it is 5 lug patter and you are good to go and cost range $20-$65. For the foam search for "Prius parts", and look for 2016 Prius. Search results yield mainly junk yard parting out various years Prius, just call or asked for 3 trunk foam that cover the spare. Got my from a 2016 Prius for $100 and the spare tire from the junk yard all seem to be at $100 also. Now I have to figure out a bracket to bolt down the spare to the trunk. My 2020 Prius didn't have the attachment point for the spare and I have seen the 2020 Prius LE with a bracket that is welded to the trunk. For now the weight and friction of the tire is fine and it does not move when driving. Keep in mind this may take you a while to find parts, for me about 1 month. Good Luck!
Might be too late for you, and shipping might be pricey, but I have all 3 foam pieces available, from a Gen 4 Prius. I'm in Ft. Worth.
