Good question re: mats.. I ordered my 07 this past Sunday. The dealer and I had a bit of a doo regarding the floor mats. Do you actually have to pay for floor mats? My last new car/van was in 99 and it came with the mats...

yeah they charge you for mats as most people dont get any "accessories" above the option packages.

Took delivery of a 2007 Prius with option package 5 this past Friday. I spent most of the day Saturday configuring all the gadgets.

So ... I'm hoping that ought to mean U.S. DVD's will have the same coolness by '08. After all, Blueray DVD's can hold 50GIG's of data.

Somehow I managed to total my wife's Subaru wagon while changing a flat last tuesday. I should be dead right now, but I don't even have a scratch. She wants a Prius as a replacement. So I am a soon-to-be Prius owner as soon as we figure out what we want. The restrictions on packages and options is confusing me. "In our region (Rochester, NY) we can only get packages XYZ and not ABC". What!? There are three dealers in my area. One dealer told me he can't get any touring models because, "Toyota did not make the Touring edition available in the northeast. " Yet another nearby dealer had a touring (which I drove) on the lot! I saw it with my own eyes: 16-in wheels and larger spoiler.

This is not like ordering my MINI which could be had with any combination of packages and options...
I promise to stop whining now.
Any advice? All three dealers have cars on the lot. I think we want a touring with leather and no nav system.
Does the touring really not say "touring" on it anywhere??

Hi -- new to the forum -- trying to get some clarity on pricing.

KBB lists option package #1 as "incl" and does not price it.

But at a dealer on Saturday, it was listed on the sticker as an option package priced at about $900.

Anyone know what the deal is here?

Just bought an 07 Touring with Package 5 on Saturday? I noticed that there is only about a $300 price difference between the regular and the touring, what am I getting for this $300? Wheels,Spoiler and.........?

does anyone think it was worth it?

You also get an improved (tighter) suspension

I think it is worth it, though I have not bought mine yet. There aren't many in the SF Bay Area, and NONE in the colors I want (red or black). I think it handles better, but I've also read that mpg is lower.

Someone has written that you get stability control with the Touring and not the non-Touring, but I see that you can also get that on the non-Touring model (in one of the packages). I think it is a good safety feature, particularly for a young driver.

I am sure this one has VSC, if thats what you mean? tighter how? is it just different shocks? I guess I'm just now sure how much more improved it could be, unless, Is it lower than the other Prius?

    Hi Everyone! :D

I just purchased my new 2007 Prius yesterday, Saturday. Wow! I am so impressed. My husband was really impressed as well. Will post a picture in a day or so. Purchased Package 5 at $1800 below invoice including leather, carpet mats and tonneau cover.

For those who want to know: Edmonds displays these prices for the Package Options on the standard 4Dr Hatchback Prius:

Invoice on this 4Dr Hatchback Prius: $20,419.00

    [/indent] MSRP INVOICE

    Package# 1
$ 825 $ 659

    Package # 2
$1,175 $ 960

    Package # 3
$2,705 $2,138

    Package # 4
$3,380 $2,678

    Package # 5
$5,280 $4,293

    Package # 6
$6,550 $5,309

Carpet Mats and Trunk Mat with Tonneau Cover $ 163.90

Didn't check on the Touring Packages.

    Hope this helps someone. :)

I was looking to buy the 2007 Touring pkg in mag gray, pkg 6. I didn't think navigation was that valuable but do want leather seating. I can't find the car so i have 2 choices:
Hatchback w pkg 6 or Touring Pkg 3 w aftermarket leather. The Touring Pkg 3 + after-leather is $600 less.

    1. Does anybody have any opinions as to aftermarket leather (which will be done by the Toyota dealer)?

    2. Tthe dealer is telling me he will give me car at invoice, but my calculated invoice price for Touring Pkg 3 is $23,929, and dealer is saying his cost is $24,500. Can somebody confirm invoice cost?

    3. How did you negotiate below invoice? I am in Philadelphia, PA.

Frank, how far out have you looked? Tourings are rare. www.cherryhilltoyota.com has 2 MG (site doesn't list package). www.libertytoyota.com lists 1 Touring (site doesn't list color or package). www.lawrencetoyota.com has 1 MG Touring (not sure of package). The consensus of the leather seat threads seems to be against dealer leather and in favor of the independant upolsterer where you can get a better selection of colors and quality and maybe for less.

Have you been talking to the internet or fleet sales manager? If not, read through www.carbuyingtips.com or www.checkbook.org and either send e-mail or fax requests for a quote on the specific car you want. Get the quote based on invoice price. I can't confirm the invoice price. Ask to see the invoice or use your numbers in the spreadsheet. They know how far down they will go. You may be able to get them down a little more Saturday afternoon but the tax credit is cut in half after Saturday. In your best estimate if you believe you qualify for the full credit don't lose $787.50 of tax credit haggling over $550.

If you don't want or won't use all the fancy gizmos then don't buy them. Get the car with the accessorirs you want and go aftermarket for the leather. Last year floor mats weren't included with the car. At CH Toyota I got a card for 15% off at the Parts Dept. I would have done better buying the mats after buying the car.

One note, Toyota primer is white. Deep scratches really show. I've got 2 on a door this winter and I don't drive the car in the worst weather.

Good luck getting what you want at the best price.

I bought the Touring Pkg 3 yesterday for invoice (?): $24,500 (included carpets & maps). This was higher than kbb invoice, but dealer said they have to pay Toyota advertising cost of $400.
    1. Is this advertising cost legit, or did i pay over invoice?
    2. I had to pay $600 for the Sirius radio. I was shocked to have to pay that much to get Sirius on my pkg 3 JBL satellite "capable" radio. Am i overpaying for this?
    3. The car came with carpeted mats. Should i still buy the WeatherTech floor liners, or is that overkill?

Maybe they're using the signal from a differential GPS network like NDGPS.

Wow! That is a great color of blue! I wonder why they opted for the baby blue option in the US? Still went for it, but would have loved that Blue from Japan!
