2018 Prius completely dead even after jumping. What now?

Hi all! I am new here, and rather than starting a new thread, I was wondering if you could give me some advice here. We have a Prius 2018 (Two Eco) and we just bought a charger (Noco genius 2). But before using it, we had to figure out what type of battery we have, because the charger requires that we specify if we will be charging a regular or an agm battery. We called the dealership and they said that the 12v battery in our car (which has never been replaced since we bought it) is AGM. But, I keep seeing discussions (in this and other forums) referring to gen 4 prius battery as a regular wet lead-acid battery. I am attaching a photo of the battery and I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what type of battery this is. Is this how an agm battery would look like?

 

It's not an AGM. The charger will likely do a rudimentary assessment of the battery before commencing the charge program. If it refuses to start, it's a fairly safe bet you should replace. Electronic load testers could confirm; battery retailers typically have such testers and will usually test for free.

The battery in your photo looks just like the one in my car, which is definitely a “maintenance free” flooded (wet) type, not an AGM battery, as @Mendel Leisk kindly mentioned. The dealer may have been confused because 2015 and older Prius cars, and Prius c and Prius v models, do use AGM batteries.

Mice, when they get into a car (because it is a nice shelter), seem to be attracted to wiring, frequently chewing on it. They like to make nests out of the air filter material (as well as other insulation), and the air filter boxes make fantastic nests, by mouse standards.
