Same here! From rain, to slush, to snow, from melt to freezing weather, and no such warnings.

Had the "ICS Unavailable", "Clean Parking Sensors" warning today (both to/from work). It was snowing and I think the two front-facing sensors (the black ones in the grille) got covered in snow. I brushed it off when I picked up dinner and the warning never came back.

Got the warning last night too, but they were actually caked with fine snow. Drove it into the garage last night; warning didn't appear this morning.

So basically in our case, it’s just covered in snow. I haven’t seen it in rain yet.

Nope.. My 2020 Limited has had it happen twice already in or right after heavy rain in the 4 months I have had it.

Our 2020 Prius Prime (Canada) had exactly this problem at least 4 times in its first couple of months. Repeated alarm from multiple sensors and/or error messages to clean the sensors or indicating the sensors were turned off. Each time the problem started in heavy rain or icing conditions. Cleaning the sensors (manually or in a car wash) never addressed the problem, but it always went away on its own within 1-5 days. I have not seen a return of this problem, even in snowy conditions, for over 2 months, so maybe it is over? My dealership service manager says this should not happen, that the system should work fine in heavy rain, etc.

Hi y’all. I’ve had this issue probably 20 times since May 2017. I’ve had the car in to address this problem and they “fixed” it.

    Here’s the deal.

It’s always the 2 black sensors out front. You can wipe away all the sensors until the cows come home and it won’t matter. The only thing that works for me, besides waiting it out, is to firmly tap the black sensors with my knuckle several times until no more moisture appears.

    That’s it.

This happens every time I go through a car wash, every time it rains in Oregon, every time I hand wash my car. Those 2 stupid black sensors are sensitive.

I’ve had this problem appear a few times in the last year. The sensors are never that dirty but wiping them usually clears the alarm. This week has been particularly bad with it occurring on consecutive 3 days..... all after driving in heavy rain. I thought I’d google the issue and came across this thread. Funnily enough I think I’m experiencing a similar problem to everyone else. I’ve found water seems to be getting behind the near side front sensor (in the black grille). It’s likely this excess water is the cause of the sensor issue. I’ve now found how to turn off the system if it occurs again as the alarm repeats every 5-10 seconds which is very annoying when driving.

At least I know the source of the issue now and have a work around but it isn’t good so many are experiencing similar issues.

Well it never rains (since March) in SoCal but every time I go to wash car the “clean parking assist sensor” comes on dash along with the exclamation icon. I turned off the I CS because of a rear bike carrier that confounds the system. Fortunately no sound alarms but aggravating display that clears momentarily then returns. After reading this thread it appears I’m not alone and that drying out may be the only remedy short of a toyota software or sensor fix. I haven’t contacted the dealer yet but Would in a heartbeat if the alarm sound came on. Thanks Tom in Temescal Valley,Ca

Humm, for my first 3 months of 2021 PP Ltd, I have not seen the warning sign yet. I have not used the parking assistance yet, but I am sure the sensor is on.
