my prius two came with a rear hatch cover thing, but I am looking for the rear hatch cover where you can pull out and it will roll in automatically, can I get one and put in my vehicle and will it fit?
That's interesting, that's all that came with mine. Must be a TOYOTA thing. I'd rather a solid one which lifts with the hatch, but was told one isn't available.
My 2012 was roll out and it was charcoal . It had Mark in the middle section from pulling in and out it got ugly . I prefer the new one better. No ugly mark at all. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I saw a Prius with the rear hatch at the LA auto show last year. It looked like you could clip the two strings that hang down from the top of the hatch. There should be two slots for putting in a roller cover.
It looks to me as though there are two cargo covers available. One is the little fold up thing that comes with the lower trims and the other is called a tarneu (sic) cover that is a spring loaded roll up version. The roll up version fits into the little square holes on each side of the cargo area and stores under the floor board in a space made for it on all trims. I'm sure you could buy it here in the store or from your dealer. They are a bit pricey.
This is the one which came with my Prius: 1) rolled up 2) pulled out and held in the bracket 3) The roller pulls out of it's enclosure to enable it to be stored 4) The storage area under the boot floor (where my large unbrella prefers to live) 5) It isn't very substantial - it's not possible to put anything on it like a solid one - even my hat makes it dip down
I had this before it gets dirty a lot . Don't like it. The new one I don't even have to pull that thing anymore. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
At least for US vehicles, only the 4 and 4 Touring get the traditional roller style cover, explained here: Visual Tables of Gen4 Package Combinations | PriusChat
When I was first looking I thought I wanted the roller one over the lighter flex foldable one... I got the latter with my 3. I found that if I wanted to switch that not only would I have to buy the roller but also replacement bits for it's mounting points. Now that I've been using the non roller type I've come to prefer it. It adequately covers cargo, raises with the hatch and if removed, stores very compactly.
I have the same one. When I take my HeatShield out of the rear window, I lay it on top of the cargo cover while I'm driving. Perfect place to store it. (And who knows, maybe it reflects a tiny bit of heat back out the window.)
Agree. Both my 2010 and 2013 Prii had the roll up type. When I got the 2016 I was sure I wanted the same. But gradually, using the new flex style won me over. Flexible, lite, easy to clean.
This is type that I ordered on Amazon for our 2017 Prime. Go on there and they have all of the different years and models of this type of cover. I did find that it was important to use a specific phrasing when you search for it, but unfortunately my aging short term memory is failing me to come up with what that was. It was far less expensive - around $130 vs. Toyota @ $550! A real no brainer! Good luck on your search - they are out there on the secondary market.
