Hello, Can anyone please help me identiffy the source of the engine rattle which you hopefully can make out in the video I've posted below? It's an intermittent lower-pitched rattle and in the video it stops after about the 17 seconds mark. I've read several threads here mentioning heat shields. I would say the noise is coming from somewhere in the left of the engine compartment if you're standing in front looking towards the back of the car. In the video it's during warmup after first turning on the car but it also happens at other random times when I'm driving. I haven't identified a specific ICE rpm which triggers it. The car has done about 200,000 km, engine oil level is ok and is otherwise working well. https://mega.nz/file/D5p2CRbC#MZqX-_A5HJZ6csUHAdBXlUMo9iSAlq6DnehR2r4Qkm8 Thanks for any pointers. Nicholas.
I can hear it pretty clearly but maybe it's because I've also heard it standing next to the car. If you look at the timeline below the video, at 6,7 and 8 seconds there are three of the loudest pulses of this noise.
Sorry, don't know why this wouldn't work on an Apple. I don't think this is a problem with the engine, but rather something rattling in resonance next to it.
the sound at those times almost seems like another electric motor starting and stopping. i wonder if it is a pump.
