Hello all, I have a gen 3 2012 prius, my hatchback will only shut when I slam it closed. I inspected the latch mechanism and it seems to working, i can close it manually and then with the press of the button it will open. I checked to see if there was some molding or something similar causing the problem, I didn't find anything like that. How likely is that this is because the latch needs replacing? Thanks in advance for any help and clarity
I wish that were normal for mine. I can't avoid mine latching no matter how gently I let the hatch down. If I ever want to just lower the hatch for a moment without latching it, I can only do that by closing the latch with my pinky finger first, and then using the release button later when I want to really close it.
