As H2OSkier said, it depends on where you want it to be. My iPod is in the lower glove box (when in use), but some have cut a hole in the compartment under the radio and ran the cable there.

I am a Beta Tester for the 2006 DICE unit and over all it has been really nice. There are some bugs with my setup (such as messed up Artist * Album / Title of Song information, especially when using Shuffle), which I have sent to DICE, but I have not heard back from them regarding my issues. It was pretty easy to install (if you follow the instructions on how to take apart the dash, etc) and it hides away nicely in the glove box (I keep both the DICE box and IPOD in the lower glove box - This is mostly if I ever need to take out or replace the DICE unit, I won't have to take the dash apart again).

Besides the few issues I have, it is actually really nice to have my IPOD hooked up to the MFD which also turns it on/off automatically - which the AUX plugin does not do.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Danny, do we have any sort of ETA on when the shipping will be happening for the group buy?

Thanks Nick !! I was hoping DICE would get most of the bugs fixed before shipping. I'm waiting to buy, what to do what to do :)

Are there any detailed instructions on how to remove the lower glove box? I'd like to get an idea of how complicated this is before ordering a unit. Thanks

OK...I have a 2006 with only package #1...It Does NOT have the aux plug in the console....
I want something to be able to plug in my sirius radio to and maybe the wife's ipod from time to time... All i needed or wanted was the aux input plug in the console...
Is this DICE unit all I can get, or all I will need to satisfy my needs?
Will it do what I am seeking?
Is there a cheaper way to ADD the AUX Plug withour doing this or is this the best I can hope for?
Just need a plugin for those two things, and never at the same time of course.
    Thanks

Here's how it's done: open the glove box. on the right side, there's a little tube thingy (like the ones that keep screen doors from slamming closed), pull it off the glovebox (straight out towards the door). then squeeze the sides of the glovebox to disengage it from the track, and lower it to the floor. very simple.

Well, this is probably the best solution out there, but not the cheapest. you could also get an FM modulator (they make many of those with a standard mini plug to work in any audio device), but that has its drawbacks, such as interference. It is, however, cheeper.

The Dice will give you two input ports, one dedicated to an iPod, and one as an AUX port, similar to what the higher level '06's have. You could plus the sirius radio into the aux port and have the iPod portion for your wife's iPod. this would give you steering wheel and MFD controls for the iPod, but not for the sirius.

You may want to look into Vais's SLS (http://www.vaistech.com/sls.html). It claims to provide MFD and steering wheel controls for a sirius radio, and also has an AUX port which you could use for the iPod. I only mention it since it sounds like you would use the sirius more often than the iPod.

I really hate to have to do this, but I ordered a DICE from Accessory shop...I made the mistake of not going back to this site when done at Paypal...therefore, when I check on my order, I don't have one!...not a big deal, so I thought...

I have sent numerous emails to the sales department with no response!...I even sent Danny some messages...I included my email from Paypal, showing the purchase...

I have registered a complaint with Paypal...buyers beware!

At home I believe I have a pdf (with pictures) of an installation of a VAIS unit, which is identical in terms of installation. I don't know how to upload that to this site. It used to be here, but apparently disappeared after the crash.

I installed the Vais Sirius and the DICE in my '06 (package 1) this weekend - both work great. I got tired of waiting so I called Denison directly and ordered mine. Next up will be a Parrot 3200 and a Nuvi!

Agreed, though I've found the color issues general occur with cheaper media. I've not (yet) seen a player accept a cheap-o disc but NOT a better quality brand name (regardless of color).

I would like to know this too, an ETA sure would be nice. I'm getting antsy here... :p I'm sure you've been busy with all the technical problems, Danny. Is there anyway to confirm that our orders weren't lost in the hubbub? (Mine still shows in my account history...)

PM Danny chuckieland. It shouldn't be a problem since I bought two things from the shop - heatshield and DICE.

Except you can't. His inbox is fully and it fails to PM him. I tried when I was going to ask for an ETA...

His inbox is also full, not just fully. I would edit, except we're not supposed to do that right now. :)

So just to be sure I'm keeping up...

The DICE is available for 2006 models but there are some bugs right now so I should probably wait to order. Also I can install the DICE unit and have it to be hidden away in my dash where there won't be anything visible or hanging down. And with the DICE I can change songs on the iPod, view the songs title and artist on my audio screen, switch to CD's and Radio and when I turn off my car the iPod will also shut off right?

Yeah, the DICE unit will do all of that. It will control turning on / off the IPOD when you power up your car (my favorite feature). It will display the Artist / Album / Song on the Audio Screen / MFD (this is the buggy part of the DICE currently, but it can be fixed by pressing the 1 - 6 Disk buttons on the Audio Screen then pressing the Map / Audio buttons to refresh the screen; kind of a pain, but I have gotten used to it). It can easily be hidden in either Glove Box (I prefer the lower one) so you will not see anything hanging out. You can also switch the the JBL 6 Disk Changer, Aux Plug, or Radio as well. The DICE / IPOD are treated as a separate input for the Stereo.

I am loving it. The only thing it doesn't do, which I wish it will eventually, is have the ability to do switch to and from Shuffle from the MFD. Currently you have to put it into Shuffle, Album or Playlist by using the IPOD controls. You can skip songs back and forth using the MFD / Steering wheel however, which is nice.

    Hope that helps,
    Nick

    Hi Guys,

New here... very interested to read about the DICE unit, and ordered one last week. Got it, followed the posts here, got the glovebox and AC dash cover removed, but can't seem to easily access the rear of the radio. Is there a trick here? Thanks for any guidance.

I saw several references to a VAIS URL, for installation pix and detailed directions, but that link didn't work.
