Help - Prime rebate info?

in the past the toyota incentive was the biggest towards Dec 31. If you shop after the 2021's are on the lot, you can negotiate a better deal even if the rebate decreases because they're more motivated to get them off the lot.

 

that 35 has been fairly constant, so hopefully it will stick around. i suppose the virus is affecting things, but it's hard to say.
i've been trying to make a deal on a new hycam without success. u suppose they are cutting production to keep supply down

True, they had it in new England where it was 5k Toyota incentive, 3k dealer discount, and then tax rebates etc from local state and fed governments.

Toyota Prius Prime :$28500 - up to 5000 off (manufacturer rebate)- upto $3000 off dealer discount - 4500 federal tax credits = $16000 plus tax and doc fees - Slickdeals.net

So a msrp 28.5k for 16k (44 percent off).
I did a 35.5k msrp - 1.5k toyota incentive - 6k negotiated dealer discount - 8.8k utiliy/air district/ state/ federal rebates= $19.2 in California last year after the new model year came. (46 percent off).

My point is, wait for the next model year to show up on lots, negotiate and visit multiple dealerships. I just said I'm not gonna waste anyones time im ready to buy today but i need it to be the fully loaded one for 28k and i dont particularly care what the toyota rebate is right now. Dealer by my house told me to f off, dealer by my job said they can do that. I looked at the sticky thread here about determining what my firm offer should be. I looked online to see which dealers had stock.

If they said no, i would have gone to the other 3 or 4 dealerships by me. And then i would have driven down to socal as i do every summer to visit family and visited the ton of dealers there. Now that i think about it, email might have been easier....but i felt being there made me look more serious and i got lucky and didnt have to go too far out of my way.

 

35K rebate in NE has been extended to 7/6. I suspect the sales are down, and there are glut of inventories. They also introduced several Covid related financing terms like no first payment for 90 days. If you haven't lost your job and have means to get to a dealer and negotiate, it maybe the best buyer's market.

 

DO NOT expect any dealers to know anything about rebates, in spite of the fact these rebates are obviously Toyota's idea and they no doubt made sure all sales "team" was well informed to help them SELL TOYOTA PRIUS PRIMES.
I was very busy and only days I first visited dealers was Dec 1 and 2 of 2019. NO ONE told me that $1000 of CA State money was ending on.....Dec 3. Yes, I'm still pissed.

You are correct. The Toyota rebate is only for purchase. Toyota has a Prius Prime lease program offer, but not as attractive as the purchase option because the federal tax credit can not be claimed for a leased vehicle. In the case of a lease, the lessor, the one who leases the car is the owner of the property, and get the credit.
