The car was driving just normal until I changed the gear to reverse it too suddenly before the car made a complete stop. It died immediately in the middle of the street and it won't start or if it starts it dies in a fraction of a second but all the lights come on and also the engine oil light starts blinking even though there was no issue with the engine oil warning light and there was enough engine oil. now i changed the 12V battery since i had still under warranty and still with this new battery the same condition exists. the vehicle has 150K on it.

    help please

    thanks in advance.

you need to have it flat bedded to a dealership to have the trouble codes read.

post them here, and we'll tell you how to fix it

a mechanic hooked up to the code reader and said there was no issue meaning it didn't show any code

All a dealership is going to do is turn any minor low cost repair into something that will cost thousands... Never go to a stealership for repairs unless you're getting warranty or recall work done. Those criminal don't deserve a single penny!

First step is to find someone to work with you DIY style... Next step is to buy an error code reader and use Dr. Prius app to read the codes: Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus

Then when you have that info we can walk your through the work that needs to be done... Fortunately Gen1 Prius can still be driven in most cases if warning lights are on. Met one lady who's daughter attended 4 years of college in a Gen 1 Prius with the warning light on... That's unheard of in newer model Prius.

What line of work are YOU in ?
Do you think YOU deserve the salary that you get ??

Some people are not capable of doing their own repairs........on anything.

thousand times agreed with you about the stealerships, those are for the wealthy people, who money isn't concern. their fees are most likely even more than the value of the car itself so its no go there for me and to tow it back and forth is close to $200 i don't have. I'm also trying to avoid regular mechanics since they also tend to over charge and mislead, thats why i don't mind doing the job myself if I know what the problem is.

an skilled mobile mechanic have already tried the code reader and nothing came back and he told me he had to diagnose it a more convenient day for him but i'm unable to get hold of him or any other mechanic that I can trust or afford thats why I'm here looking for help since its weird how things transpired.

    (1) the car was fine, (2) sudden change in motion, (3) the car went dead completely while at the same time everything else seems perfect. i don't know how one thing led to another, I can't connect between what happened and the results.

more then likely damaged the transmission strips the gears (on normal autos) more then likely you broke something in the CVT when you did that.(train wreaked it) I would wait at lest 3 seconds after shifting on a CVT before going that is what i do..(even on a normal auto i wait)

Your mechanic needs to use Toyota Techstream software or Dr. Prius app... A standard code reader that most auto repair places use won't read the subcodes and sometimes misread the primary codes. I'd start with getting the codes. In the meantime clean and inspect everything that connects to the 12v battery and make sure your battery charges all the way up to 13.8 volts with a charger.

Toyota Techstream software or Dr. Prius app...

Are those apps that I can use for iPhone? If yes, how?

make sure your battery charges all the way up to 13.8 volts with a charger.

Using with other car with a jumper cables?

    Typo ?
The battery itself will NOT charge up to 13.8. That is the charging voltage.
Once disconnected from the charger for a while, 12.8 is considered "full".
