I have been searching hundreds of post for a few days and I haven't been able to determine what thickness of wheel spacer / adapter I would need to move the newer style 2017, 2018 Toyota 86 17" rims (like pictured / attached) to be flush or even with the fenders, front and back.
I know that they require a minimum of 3mm not to hit the brake caliper but how wide do they need to be to move the rim out even with the fenders? I understand that going beyond 3mm might/will require longer wheel studs. Any info and pictures would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

When I've researched such notions in the past I constantly ran into just about every tire place and wheel seller making it clear that wheel spacers are not something they will recommend due to liability issues. As in anything that changes how a wheel bolts to an axle it's something a business insurance provider is a modification they'd prefer to not allow. That doesn't mean it's unsafe, just beyond what's safe from a liability perspective. Handling wise, a wider stance will definitely improve things... But collision wise, it add a small amount of weakness to the design.

And in all my years on PriusChat, I've not seen any discussion of this. Most people simply buy wider wheels to do what you're trying to do, but of course that can cause a big hit when it comes to gas mileage. But hopefully some others who know more than I will contribute to this discussion?

The 86 wheels are +48 7.5 width IIRC

I run OZ Ultraleggera 17x8 +48 w/ 25mm spacers on all 4 Corners to "Flush" my wheels, Hope that can shed some light.
