I noticed a weird window issue. There doesn't seem to be any issue on the inside or outside of the window it seems like it's on a layer in between the glass if that makes sense. I don't know if this would be covered under the warranty or not but it doesn't seem like it's something from wear and tear from the customer. Has anyone else experienced this or had this happen to their window. It's a 2018 previous prime mid trim level. I also have the rest issue on the rear hatch handle but from reading some comments on this thread it seems like the people that got this fixed had it happen again so I don't know if there's anything that I could do with that. Also have the weird issue with my steering Wheel there is a parts on the top of my steering wheel that is getting wrinkled. Also reading some posts here it seems like some people have luck getting it fixed under warranty and some were denied not sure what I should do. Thoughts?
Not normal IMO I would think it would be covered by warranty. Unless you took a hair blower to it thawing it out in winter?
Lol, I didnt. Just started happening from what I noticed. But what on earth is it? Like a bubble in between the glass? I thought the window was one solid piece?
The does look like it's delaminating but side windows are usually tempered rather than laminated. I'd absolutely ask the dealer about that.
Prius Prime has acoustic front windows. I mean they are special laminated glass. Looks like they delaminate....yes go see your dealership. Not normal. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Wow, first time seeing and reading this glass problem. Chips and cracks, yes... but not this. As for the problem with rust on hatch handle backing plate and wrinkled steering wheel SofTec covering, those are known issues. You have to ask press hard to get any warranty repair, but it's been done, although the fix seem to be variable.
Thanks for the replies. I actually work at a Toyota dealership. I sell them. We don't get Primes here in this region aka Pittsburgh, Pa. I just wanted to k on what to talk to service about tomorrow when I go in. Its funny, I've been selling Toyota for 4 years and this is the only vehicle I've seen or heard about the steering wheel issue. Same with lift gate and definitely this is the first time I've seen the windshield issue. Quality control is always pretty good. Weird. Again, thanks for the info everyone.
As mentioned, it is laminated like the windshield. In addition to sound reduction, some consider it a safety feature, as it keeps those not wearing seat belts from ejecting out the side window when it breaks during a crash. Of course, it makes it harder to break for escape and extraction during emergencies. Rust on the piece supporting the handle. Japan doesn't salt roads in winter. So their car designers had no idea what it can do to cars. That's why the first Tacoma/Hilux Toyota imported to the US had the bed rust out. I guess each generation of engineers needs to relearn the lesson.
Make sure the drains in the underside of the doors are clean. Use a wire too clear the drains. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
That is super weird! The only glass issue I've had is the back passenger window squeaks the I put it up.
