Out the door price with tax and tags: $27682.63
That also included wheel locks and all weather mats.
    Sticker price of $30,799

I keep turning over in my head if I can get the federal credit it for this car. Sell it for a small profit and get a 2020 limited edition in a few moths or year once the price comes down. If there was a way to break even or only spend $1000. Id do it.

Congrats on your new purchase. I think you should enjoy your new car. I hate to break the bad news to you, but... at your purchase price, it would be unlikely you make any profit by selling your XLE even after subtracting a full $4502 credit from the purchase price. Check back on this thread, you will find purchase price much lower than yours in regions with deep discount and rebates.

Hey guys I have a 2019 prius prime premium. For those of you that have done a trade up from i.e. a 2018 to a 2020 or a 2019 to 2020 what kind of price difference was it. Of course it would depend on the model you get. Is there little price difference because the rebate? Is now a good time because of the down car market?

I guess I've been thinking about getting the 2020 for the upgrades it has and I've been also thinking of getting the limited. I do wish the premium had parking sensors. I have also been interested in the 2020 ioniq phev.

    Thanks guys

It really depends on where you live and what you can get for the car you are selling. In the north east, the current rebate is $4000. I traded in my 2017 Prime Premium to 2020 Prime LE earlier this year. I got ~$11K off of MSRP on 2020 LE. And in my state, if I trade-in my car at a dealer where I purchase a new car, the sales tax is due on the difference. I ended up paying ~$1000 for this trade after the eventual $4502 tax credit I will receive next year. I found out that in CA you have to pay a full sales tax on a new car price even if ou trade-in the old one. So your number is largely depending on what you can get for the 2019 you sell.

I live in CA. Thanks for letting me know. The tax would definitely make it more expensive

For those in the NE, check out Imperial Toyota in Milford MA, online they're showing dealer discounts of 2300-2600 before the current 3500 rebate in MA. These primes haven't been moving very well (I've been tracking inventory last month or 2). Given what Carvana, Vroom, ALGO pay for used cars now, good time to upgrade for no cost.

Just bought 2020 XLE - Dealer does not give large discounts in my area, but the rebates added to $5600. I called multiple dealers, and could not find one that offered more than 400-500 below MSRP before all the discounts.

    MSRP - 31,139.00
    Sale Price - 31,036.00
    Taxes + Fees: 2482.88
    Total Sales Price: 33,776.36

    Rebates
    Prime Rebate - 4500
NY Hybrid Rebate - 1100 (Done at dealer not a tax credit)

    Cash Down: 1,000.00

    Amount Financed $27,176.00
    72 months @ 2.04% = $401 a month

Not much off MSRP, but my credit union gave me a really good deal. Dealer could not come close to the %.

Could of saved a maybe 300-400$ more if i went to a dealer 20 mile away, but the extra dollars to have local dealer where they give free inspections for life of car, so save me 25$ per year as well as free charging when I do any service.

Congrats on your new car! For a moment, from your profile, CA has a $4500 Toyota rebate... Then realized that you are in NY. Toyota must have upped the ante. It was $4000 rebate just a few weeks ago. We may see the $5000 rebate soon like we had back in 2018.

NY / NJ currently show $4500 rebate on a 2020. Anyone know of a state thats giving a higher rebate?
Does anyone have a current list of rebates per state?

I don't think there is any other region that has higher rebate then NY region which includes NY/NJ/CT. New England (Boston Region) is still $3500. Greater NY region and NE region are the two sales regions Toyota has given higher rebate than others. The Toyota rebate is not determined by the state, but is by the sales regions. You can check other region's rebate just by typing in the zip code of a city in that region in the Buyatoyota.com site. There are 12 Toyota sales regions. CARB states regions gets more rebates and have more inventories of PRIME.

New England Region -- Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island

Greater New York Region -- New York, New Jersey, Connecticut

Central Atlantic Region -- Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, District of Columbia

Southeast Region -- North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida

Western Region -- Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota

Ohio Valley Region -- Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee

Midwest Region -- Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota

Mountain Region -- Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming

Gulf States Region -- Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi

Northern CA Region -- California north of the Los Angeles metro area

Southern CA Region -- Los Angeles metro area, and areas south

Pacific Northwest Region -- Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana

Sal King- thanks -Good to know.

Im a bit confused on the regional difference strategy. These days the deal can be done on line. Consumers can buy a car anywhere in the country and have it delivered. I like buying local but when my state dealer is thousands more it becomes a no brainer.
Seems like the factories are looking to disrupt the dealer network and eventually take the sales direct.

If anyone got a good deal in NY/NJ using the 4500 rebate please post it!

you're in the minority. most people buy cars withing they're geographic comfort range.

for prime, the strategy is to sell as many as possible in carb states to meet california compliance laws

For me, I'm in Southern California where it's only $2000. So if I bought in NY area I could save $2500, but it would cost $1500 or so to ship and I'd not be eligible for the state rebate so it'd be a wash and a lot bigger headache.

if you're gonna go to va, you might be better off in ny/nj/ne.
