Brake issue?

    Hi All,

    I have an '06 Prius. I brought my car to a collision repair shop after driving over a truck tire which dented my bumper and popped off my grill. I picked up the car today and when I hit the brakes it makes a deep, incremental whirring noise (not the mechanical rattle noise I usually hear that I believe to be the brake actuator). I immediately start driving back to the collision repair shop when the car throws a red triangle, the VSC and check engine light and the orange exclamation light in a circle with the parenthesis around it. Also on the mfd there is an orange car with an exclamation mark in it.

    In addition to replacing the bumper and grill, the repair shop replaced the a condenser and some sensors. They did disconnect the 12 volt to do the work.

    What could they have done to mess up the car that would cause these issues or is there no way to know without codes?

    The codes would definitely make it an easier question.

    You can find a lot of threads here about getting brake system codes by counting dash-light blinks, if you don't have a reader tool handy.

    Bisco, hey there. I don't have the age but last the car was in (about a month ago), they checked the battery and it was fine. I'll keep that on the list of possibilities, though.

    when they did body work on my 2004, they killed the 12v and the hybrid battery.

    Oh boy. I just replaced the hybrid battery. I asked if it's the first Prius they've worked on and they said no. How did they kill your hybrid and 12 volt?

    I told them not to work on the car without calling me with the diagnostic info. I'll post codes here and I'm also calling the dealership to see what they say.

    I wouldn't be surprised if they killed my hybrid battery as the dash lit up with the same signals as when the hybrid batter did fail.

    back then, i didn't know any better. they had to have a special toyota charger brought in. i suspect they left it on and in neutral. not sure what else would kill it.

    and this was the dealer body shop.

    The collision repair shop said the code is P0A93. They said there was an air pocket in the inverter cooling system and they had to bleed and refill the inverter fluid. Does this sound valid?

    I'm taking it to my normal repair shop to have them do a once over and make sure the collision repair shop didn't mess anything else up.

    Definitely a possibility. Are they saying they drained and refilled the inverter coolant loop for some reason? After doing that it was then not bleed properly?
