I usually shut it down overnight, but it'll also spend 80% of the day in sleep mode. Well it used to. I've tried shutting down service MoUSO....exe. This seems to be the culprit? Check it is indeed off. Half an hour later, computer will be still awake, check again: it's baaack.

    In powershell try
    powercfg -h off then enter

This will disable hibernate mode, and will remove hiberfil.sys which may be corrupted causing the long shutdown. This will also disable the fast boot mode.

    Power off

    Now enable again by running
    powercfg -h on then enter

Hibernate and fast boot will be enabled again.

    Power off

Restart and test hibernate and see if your issue is fixed.

    Good luck.

Followed your instructions to a T, did the CMD prompts as administrator, cut and pasted the command and switches, did all the shut downs. No soap. But thanks, worth a try. (y)

One of the links I posted has last entry Aug 06; this is really a current problem, likely due to buggy update.

Ready for a Mac yet? I only shut down when a major update requires a reboot. You already upgraded to a Prius. Why not upgrade the computer, too? :D

I've been using a mac at work for 18 years. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't hate that mac even more than I hated it the day before.

Just got a used Dell laptop from eBay with Windows 10 Pro OS. I needed it to take on a trip. Reset the system and download the Brave browser to set it as a default. Edge will stay dormant never to be opened again. Just in case I need other synched credentials, I also downloaded and installed FireFox and Chrome, but they will also stay dormant on this laptop for the most part.

Did another Windows update, and the computer's going into sleep mode properly now.

I dig that one too. Seems to be the same idea as Aviator, but I hope they can keep it together longer!

I've been using Brave as a default browser on my Android phone for a while. I tried it on the Chromebook, but due to the implementation of the Chrome browser as an integral part of the OS, using any other browser as a default is not possible. It is a Chromium-based browser. I use to use Chromium on all of Linux boxes, so I know it is very stable and super fast. But what I really like about the Brave is the privacy protection and security measures. Paired with DuckDuckGo as a search engine and VPN connections, I have much less fear of snooping eyes than any other current browsers out there.

Could be. Short-lived reprieve, now it's not going to sleep again.

Sorry, I'm not surprised. I finally disabled that feature and fast boot on my W10 laptop. Being an IT guy, shutting down was my normal mode anyway.

Another update* (aug 12), and it is going to sleep again. :ROFLMAO:

    * This one I think:

(No mention of "sleep" in the above.)
