Here are a few quizzes from Encarta Spelling Grammar Vocabulary I have 15/15 in spelling, 8/10 in grammar and 7/10 in vocabulary. As stated in the other thread, my spelling does not disappoint
My scor wuz 12/15 in speling. Its better then my 8/10 in grammar., and my 6/10 in vocabulary really abysmal.
13/15, 9/10, 7/10 The vocab was probably higher than I deserved - I was unsure about more than just the three I missed.
10 out of 10 in grammar (I used to teach it), but bombed the vocabulary 6/10 and missed one in spelling. Not too shabby.
I got 15/15 in spelling, 10/10 in grammar, and 9/10 in vocab. I have to admit I didn't know what a "teosinte" was. Otherwise I did pretty well! Teosinte: "The teosintes make up a group of large grasses of the genus Zea found in Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua. There are five recognized species of teosinte: Zea diploperennis, Zea perennis, Zea luxurians, Zea nicaraguensis and Zea mays. The last species is further divided into four subspecies: ssp. mays, ssp. huehuetenangensis, ssp. mexicana, and ssp. parviglumis, the last three also are teosintes. The species group into two sections, sect. Luxuriantes, with the first four species, and sect. Zea with Zea mays. The former section is typified by dark-staining knobs made up of heterochromatin that are terminal on most chromosome arms, while most subspecies of sect. Zea may have 0 to 3 knobs between each chromosome end and the centromere and very few terminal knobs (except ssp. huehuetenangensis which has many large knobs). The two perennials are thought to be one species by some. This Genus of grasses is thought to be the origin of modern day corn." Thanks Wikipedia!

Anyhow, spelling 12/15 (not a surprise), grammar 10/10, and vocabulary, lets just say I could only find two words of the ten that it looked like I have any need to know.
15/15, 10/10 and 3.5/10 Speilgin and Gremmir was ez, but on the vocab I gotta be honest - while my score was 9/10, I actually knew only 3 words for certain, and recalled just barely enough about syzygy to guess its correct answer (.5) - but hadn't a clue about the rest so had to guess from context (didja notice how the wrong answers were identifiable by their "phony"tics?). Had that quiz required write-in answers instead of multiple guess I'd wager all of our scores in all categories would be reduced by at least a third! Mark Baird Alameda CA
