I'm experiencing something I've seen others post about, the image from my back-up cam is foggy. When I've read these posts, typically there will be some mention of a lens cover but then the discussion quickly turns to replacing the camera. So I'm not clear about something--does a lens cover exist over the back-up camera or not? I ask because, in my case, my camera works fine. It's obvious to me that the distorted image is due to the damage of the outermost transparent material. So, is this a lens cover or is it the lens itself? It looks like there is a lens cover. I'm only asking because the discussions always turned into talk of replacing the camera, suggesting on could only replace the lens. If there is a lens cover, I'd welcome any advice on replacing it. Thanks
The odds of Toyota making the cover available as a replacement part are.......a bit less than ZERO. Finding one in a salvage yard is a bit better than that. But maybe not much.
OK, well, thanks for confirming that the lens cover exists (and is not just part of the camera's lens). Since my options seem to be keeping a largely unusable camera or replacing the whole camera, I intend to pop off the lens cover and replace it with a larger, transparent piece of plastic. I imagine this plastic will be rectangular, roughly the size of the black housing for the camera. I will update with results.
You could make one theoretically. I bought one for my dashcam that just slides on, you would just need the lens and need to fabricate a way to hold it to your backup camera. More work than it's worth IMO.
In the winter time from all the crap on the street the camera is foggy right away. So i added up a sprayer nozzle. It clean it very well. 20200625-144746-HDR — ImgBB Its the 11th post here EV Mode + tons of upgrades. Turtle prius | PriusChat
