I've kept the Prius and bought a MG ZS EV as my second car. The EV for my everyday motoring and I will use the Prius for longer trips to save hunting for charge points.
Ensure you dimmed it whilst in "night mode" and not "day mode". (Night mode is with the headlights on and it's dark outside).
Yep, £180 extra, but room under the floor in the dual level boot for both the spare (spacesaver) and the gunge kit. Will take out the gunge kit when I clear a space in my junk packed garage, to save weight.
No. That’ll be too dark during the day. Oddly enough, you can put it in Day mode full time (but it’ll be bright at night).
To OP: I currently own a 2016 Toyota Prius Gen4. My parents both own 2019 Honda Insight (one is a EX and the other a Touring) I can give you my opinion on them. Prius: I have been able to get more gas mileage with the prius. I was initially averaging 62-64 mpg mostly highway driving. I have now average 55-58 mpg but I have been driving more normal and not worrying so much about getting the best mpg. Tech features wise the prius lacks alot of tech (again I have a 2016 prius 3). I do like that is has a Qi charger built in which the insight does not. The tire size for the prius is more affordable 195/65R15. Insight: I have driven both the ex and the touring. They both average 44-48 mpg. I do notice that the transmission likes to operate with a higher pitch even if you do not accerlate hard at times. I think it has to do with the slope of the road. Tech Features of the insight are really cool. You can start it remotely. They have dual climate control. The Honda safety sense is something neat to have. The navigation on the Touring model is great but who really uses car navs now in days. The steering feels more stiff than the prius again probably has to do with tire sizes. The Insight can operate in EV at higher speeds, I have been able to get it to drive with EV past 70 mph where the prius I have only been able to go 70-72 mph then after it turns on the gas engine. The insight appears to use up the EV battery much quicker than the prius does. The insight also has paddle shifters that help with how much brake regen you want to be at. Something cool to have when going downhill.
