Replacement Battery Pack at a Great Price

IF......you are going to tell a story, you should tell the WHOLE story.
As was already said, not everybody has the skill or patience that you have.
Very few, in fact.

 

I am all for saving money but swapping modules and doing it reliably is not something a lot of people want to do or sometimes have the skills/tools/space to do the work. I always say it is horses for courses. As for warranty, a better warranty does not equal a better battery. People put far too much stock in a warranty. Too many stories of people trying to make a warranty claim only to find that they can't even find the outfit to pursue a claim, or if they do get hold of the outfit they get the runaround.

We have seen it all too often where people end up here in Prius Chat after being ripped off by some battery repair guy or another. We will happily help anyone that wants to save some money replacing a module or two, or recondition their HV battery if they express a desire to do so. In our experience, most people just want a reliable solution and move on. Like others have said, one size does not fit all.

You swapped a module in an HV battery, but then you got a Green Bean battery?

 

I do not have a green bean battery.
I have a thrown together of a hybrid pack that is aged about 14 years old.
I replaced one module for $25 bucks and now Im golden.

 

Hey AzUSAPrius - where did you get your replacement modules - where is a good reliable source?
how to best match/balance so replacement modules 'fit in' and don't stress otherwise good cells? do i really need a cell charging/discharging device? the "prolong" device?
do you have a post where you've done your step by steps/experiences? or a post /videos to recommend that you followed the procedures?

If I were getting a module I would look at Hybrid Automotive. They try to match the mileage of the module to your pack. Of course they also make and sell the Prolong reconditioning system used by many people here.

Stick to the facts and your posts will be fine.
Stray over into unreasonable assumptions and opinions and you should EXPECT to be questioned.

Reconditioning batteries is a good option to save money if they could balance capacity, voltage and internal resistance in a proper way.
Meanwhile, the brand new battery is a great option too, as they could offer a warranty to make sure you could enjoy the lifetime of the battery.

 

In our experience here companies selling reconditioned batteries cannot afford to spend the time to balance and test properly.

There are some hobbyists here that do take the time, including fixing reconditioned packs that failed often enough the owner just replaced them.

Testing from our experts here have also determined that although your solution looks like the one from newpriusbatteries the cells test as having less capacity even though the specifications are equal.
