Block heaters in Finland Hi RobertO, Engine block heaters are not standard in Finland. The reason is our very high car tax. If heater is factory fitted it means double price! Prius block heater is 248 Euros (300 USD) option, if it is fitted in Finland. If it would be factory fitted, then the price would be about 500 USD! Now you know the reason. We use Defa-heaters in Finland, it is the most common brand. Another brand you may find in Finland is Calix. Defa is a Norwegian brand. 2004 Prius in worth 39800 Euros (48500 USD) in Finland. That price includes all options except metallic paint, Alcantara upholstery and navigation/bluetooth. Even seat heaters are standard. Alacantra Upholstery is extra? Is it available at all? What is the standard upholstery made of? I've never heard of them making it without the Alacantra.
