I have a 2010 Prius giving me a replaced hybrid battery. I have checked voltage in each cell 7.5 + voltage in each cell. Drained batteries done trickle charged each on still holding voltage. Reset error few days later come back again checked voltage again. All good . Cleaned all copper plates for corrosion. Still every few days it comes back any ideas. Before I go and replace $2500 hybrid battery . Thanks
First I would get some more hard data including identification of which cells are out of tolerance. Then I would consider changing those if I was not ready for new cells, which, in my opinion, is the only way to go if you want a reliable car. There are options at $1600 for new cells or around $2250 for a new Toyota battery. The pic shows my 2012 Prius v wagon using “car scanner” app recently:
read the rebuilding/balancing threads if you want to bring it back to life and deal with issues as they come. otherwise, pick up a 'newpriusbatteries.com' for $1,600.
You can also check out green bean batteries. They have a lifetime warranty and it is transferable when you sell your car. $1650 for your car or do the job yourself and save all that money. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
How old is your 12v battery? What is the voltage? A weak or bad 12v battery can throw all kins of hybrid errors... I would check that before thinking you need a hybrid battery.
You should go to the dealer and ask if they could check with Toyota to help with the expense. I just had my hybrid battery replaced, and now the AC button is not working.
