I went to LaminX and ordered two 4”x8” yellow film covers. It kind of breaks up the monotony of all that silver and white of the lights. The photos don’t do justice it looks really good in real life.
I did the exact same thing on my '14 4Runner TEP. It's very east to do and I agree it breaks up the look. The yellow lens color has also worked better "to me" in actual fog, not that anyone uses them for that these days. I may do the same on my Prime.
Yes, yellow light provides better contrast in foggy, rainy conditions. I have 2500K halogen bulbs in my projector foglights. And I have put on yellow vinyl over a pair of OEM style LED foglights that will soon be installed on the Prius. I don't care much for the 6000K color temp of the LEDs. At this point, all the car fog lamp overlays I’ve applied aren’t for safety in fog or rain, just athetics. First one I did was for my Corolla, and about 10 other cars since.
Did you remove the fog lights to do this or did you just cut to fit the exposed part? Have a red 2020 on the way and think I’m going to do this.
Just clean the lens, test fit and trim, apply and/or apply and carefully use X-acto knife to gently trim in place. I did some of both. No need to remove anything.
Thanks for the response - sounds good and now I know it can be done without disassembly. Good warm-up project for the car Thx.
By output I mean with the fog lights powered on. Like to see the light it puts out onto the road. Only saw 2 pictures in the first post with the lights off. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Sorry, my bad. I just ordered a set of 4x8" yellows this morning. I'll post a pic off and illuminated as soon as I get them.
Thanks! I loved the look on your car, and think it's a great (and simple) enhancement for any car body color.
Toyota LED foglight with yellow vinyl overlay. Sorry, not a Prius Prime, but since no one posted any shots with the foglights on. This is in an underground garage, foglights used as DRLs. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
