    Hi Prius Chat!

Can you suggest where I can buy a battery "reconditioner" or charger for when I am "balancing" cells? I have seen the Prolong reconditioner, but it seemed a bit expensive at $350. Any more affordable options out there?

    Thank you!

There's quite a few hobby chargers mentioned in these forums but my problem is that whenever
i try to find the manual for these mainly Chinese chargers, either I can't find the manual
or I can't judge from what is written whether it does something or not.

Was wondering whether someone could indicate whether their charger can
    - record the result of all the charge/discharge cycles
    - is charge/discharge info also available for reprocessing eg. if you want to combine
data from several batteries on one graph ?
    - do multiple charge/discharge cycles according to manually defined parameters
and the end of charge/discharge are sensed/ended properly
    - measure series resistance
    - maybe those with reconditioning experience could also mention if there are
some other requirements that are essential to have

Your best course of action is to get:
    NONE.
And save your money toward a new battery.
Once the battery gets old enough that you recognize it is getting weak,
"reconditioning" is just a a waste of time and money.

I would like nothing more than to do that or even better just buy a new car
but my pocket doesn't allow it especially after
this lab virus fiasco and the car is now sitting there, so practically I don't
    have another alternative.

What I am trying to tell you is that you DO have another alternative........since this one likely will end up being more expensive than doing NOTHING.

Too cryptic for me Sam, so what chance has someone for whom English is their second language.? Why do you feel you need to harass and bully people all the time? Give it a rest.

Some record info for multiple cycles, some only record the dayta for the last cycle.
If you mean store to a CSV type file, no for the most part. You need to pay for asomething more expensive to get data logging.
Most of the hobby chargers sor of do, but with some it is hard to get that working right.
No, but you can theoretically calculate it.

Are you looking at a battery that has P0A80 and/or P301x/P302x codes? Or do you have a battery with low voltage that you want to charge up?

Sam, I appreciate your input - it's always good to get feedback from more experienced people but
a new battery costs about 2k Euro (I don't think the car is worth more than 10k Euro and it's already got
180k km), a second hand battery 1k Euro(and who knows whether it is any better than this one)
and I am hoping the OBD2 indication of the center module being weaker means a couple of modules
need to be changed (100Euro) + chargers (250Euro) and a lot of my time (which we will not
count as I now have more time than money). Like I said, if I had the money, I think I would just
trade in the car for a new one or buy the new battery and drink juice on the beach but that's not my
    option now.

This is for a 2013 Yaris Hybrid 178k km - this is the thread I started:
    2013 Yaris hybrid 1.5l 178k km P0A80 fault | PriusChat
I used a VeePeak OBD2 adapter and found only the one code P0A80.
I have the battery on the table and each module is disconnected but haven't had time
to test it other than the open circuit test - I get 7.7V on all modules.
As there are 20modules, I think I am looking at 4 or 5 chargers (or quad/ 2*2) whatever is best
they can be with or without a power supply (have some pc supplies laying around) .

I am in Europe and don't have access to all the chargers that are mentioned in the forum.
Does the EV-peek CQ3 record multiple cycles and do the multiple charge/discharge cycles properly /
is it a cheap charger that could be recommended ? Is there a better choice with or without power supply ?

BUT you did not include any of that information in THIS thread.........so I assumed that your car was still running.
So it is a slightly different situation.......but not much.

You are still going to have to replace the cells that have failed completely......charger or no.
Then other cells are likely to fail also in a few months.......charger or no.

There is no "magic" in trying to recondition a battery.
    I wish you luck.

I saw the CQ3 mentioned by experienced users in a few places and bought it for 146Euro delivered- couldn't
pass up the opportunity. Thanks all for the input, now to reconditioning in my other thread.

I found EV Peak CQ3 chargers on AliExpress and GetFPV for $160 or $170. Too good to be true? A scam?
