In order for these micro fans to impede any type of air flow from the HV fan, the fans would have to spin at least 10,000 rpm. These fans are commonly in network rackmount equipment and sounds like a jet engine taking off at 10,000 rpm. It's not affecting air flow either because the modder is using the app to not allow the HV fan to spin, other modder posts has the temps up to 114 F on battery packs.

It actually keeps the duct from being warped and the fans are meant to be on while driving also.

Too small to do anything effective.

Decided to give a Father's day gift to myself.

Something tells me I will soon regret spending that much money for some covers but for now, feeling quite happy. IMG_20200620_154106.jpeg IMG_20200620_154112.jpeg IMG_20200620_150010.jpeg IMG_20200620_145729.jpeg

Yes, I know that some fans that size run at 10K rpm. but not all: I replaced some 10K rpm ones in a lightly loaded Dell network switch by much slower, quieter ones.

But, whether those little fans are running or not, or at what speed they run, they are reducing the size of the opening through which the air from the standard fan flows.

If the duct is well sealed to the stock fan, blocking part of the flow path in the duct will not reduce the volume of air passing through because of the principle of flow continuity (duct area x flow velocity = constant); the same volume of air will still move through per time.

The faster flow may actually reduce battery temp in itself, without the helper fans. The only way to really know here is to test. AzusaPrius, do you have a Scangauge or Torque app that will read out battery temperature?

True, I agree. But the modder haven't changed the default setting on the app for the HV fan to come on therefore there's no air flow going into the pack so these fans are not impeding any air flow because there no air flow. I have app and the fan doesn't come on even over 103, modder haven't change the settings either.

Stay tuned I will post pictures soon of the hybrid battery temps. I am using the app only to look at the temps, I have not did not disable the fan or make it run at full speed.
