Does anyone have experience with the Super Start Platinum 12V battery from O’reilly Auto Parts? It’s the only battery I can get locally that claims to fit the C. EB124DC3-5186-492A-8E0E-B487343FDB75.png

For $199 Super Start Platinum I would go to the dealer for the OEM for $215 here in SoCal.

i have had the Super Start 12v battery in my Prius for almost 6 years. A few months ago I went to a AAA travel show (just before covid hit). They were doing free battery checks, so I had them check mine. They said it was very healthy, should last at least several more years.

So, I would recommend it. They often offer discount coupons on their web site.

At a price similar to the OEM, there is no good reason to think that it won't be just as good.
Might even be made in the same factory.

I just ordered one since they have a 20% deal. Hopefully, I can just return core locally as it would cost more to ship it than the charge is.

If you have a place to return the core locally, can't you also get the new one there ??

I think that any retailer who sells batteries is obligated to take cores.
But they are NOT obligated to pay you anything for it if you didn't buy a new one there.

The 20% deal required to you to ship to home, which was free.

Note that YOU are responsible for fully charging batteries shipped to you at home.
And that is CRITICAL, since most modern cars don't have the capacity to fully charge one that is almost dead.
Which is the condition of ones that are shipped.

While that should be OK, an AGM when fully charged will be higher: from 12.9 to 13.1

I charged it the past couple days and swapped it today, returning the OEM, which still read about 12.3 V, to a local store.

Not sure why so many people have issues with the seat trim clips. They were easy to push the center in and pull them out. It was harder getting them back in once the centers were pulled back out to where they needed to be since they naturally want to spread now and the holes in the seat frame aren't chamfered. I ended up using a screwdriver to help squeeze the "leaves" enough to work into the hole.

Posted this on another thread about the clips...but note that you can remove the center stem of the clip to make the 'arms' of the clip easier to compress....and it makes it much easier to get back in the hole. Then replace the center stem once it is in the hole. This method makes it 'toolless'. (y)

I've had a Super Start battery for more than 7 years now. It has functioned perfectly and show no signs of reduced capacity.

I know this is an old thread - but I updated the 12v battery in my car, and saved money. I used the following battery, whic is very close in size to the original but 55aH rather than 35aH. The mounting strap did require a slight modification(Its quit a tight fit) and it uses screw terminals instead of battery posts. It's been in the car for 3 or 4 years now, and tests like a brand-new battery! I can buy one for GB£ 98, compared to GB£154 upwards, for the original. For those of us in the US, there's this similar one from eBay, currently for $110.
