Considering buying either a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV or a Lexus IS300h hybrid.... due to being targeted and traumatised by an incident in which my Catalytic converter was stolen from my Gen 3 Prius...
Anyone know if they target the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV or a Lexus IS300h hybrid for their catalytic converters in the UK or elsewhere??? Don’t want to be targeted again

I don't know about the Mitsubishi but unfortunately I do know of a Lexus Hybrid being targeted, last week in a local Railway car park a young girl had her car robbed of its catalytic converter. My next car won't be a hybrid at all, there's no point unless something is done about these thefts, and as that's not any time soon, I'll stick with something more polluting, which is a shame.

    I hear you .
If I personally had a choice, I’d go with a full EV.

Until 7 years later, EVs are disappearing without trace. Most mysteriously “Shanghai’d” into criminal chop shops where they’re skilfully relieved of their Lithium Ion Battery Packs, as the price of Lithium has quadrupled and it is literally the most lucrative element on the market....it’s literally a form of currency .

Even the electric motors are highly sought after in shady 3rd world countries around the globe! Business is booming. Law enforcement shrugs its shoulders and pays more attention to arresting dissidents who dare to complain about this latest crime .

    Hello “Grand Theft EV”....

    Maybe a bicycle then

How is that catloc holding up, and which brand of 'tilt sensor' was fitted?

In all honesty? Not great. Someone has had a go to remove it, and all it does now is rattle. Toyota said they can put a claim through for a new one, but as its been damaged I'll have to pay for a new lock, and removal of the old lock, which will cost me a fortune. Toyota blamed me saying that because I had the manifold bolts welded shut, it'll take them longer to remove it. I commented back saying that you'll have to cut it off anyway, plus you fitted the lock with the manifold bolts welded shut anyway! If it wasn't for the welded manifold bolts, and the additional steel bracing I've put down the side of the exhaust the lock would of been broken off and the cat stolen again. People need to realise that they can't rely on the Catloc alone protecting the exhaust.

The tilt sensor, I believe its made by Cobra, I got it fitted at my local Auto Electrician place, they are easy to fit apparently, the sensor sits next to the fuel filler cap lever, under the carpet.

Spoke with an install shop the other day, they said many owners discover their horn(s) disconnected after theft.

Was the factory alarm enabled once the tilt sensor was triggered?

How much was the sensor with fitting?

Once the alarm is triggered the factory alarm goes off, both times my car was targeted the tilt sensor was on there, so as far as I'm concerned the alarm would of gone off.

It cost me £115 to be fitted, took about an hour.

Got my cat stolen last week. They moved my car to the other side of the parking lot too. Maybe by use of dollys on the rear wheels? and tow cable in front. I'm formulating a plan to keep my goods..
Is there a reason a tilt sensor would work better than a shock sensor?
Gen 2 prius only seems to alarm when a door is opened unexpectedly. I'd assume newer prius have a better alarm
