Green Bean Battery

They'll just go out of business and open under another name. And since they are a "new" company,
they are not responsible for the warranty of another company.

They may be hoping it's just when people buy an extended warranty on tvs, vcr, dvd players, etc.,
people forget they have them, or lose the paperwork. So they don't have to pay out for them.
I on the other hand, kept mine and used them! I bought them on my VCR's, and camcorders.
For me, they more than paid for themselves. And when they couldn't fix them anymore, or it cost more
than it was worth, they gave me options for a new device, and I could buy an extended warranty for that.
Which I did.

 

I almost bought from GB but their bad attitude ruined the deal. I had a very negative discussion with a salesperson, but I still purchased a pack and made the appointment. The process was so negative I reported them to their local BBB.

Within 10 minutes after submitting, the sales person emailed me to say he had cancelled my order because he was not going to sell a pack to a bad customer(me).

The reason I was a bad customer is because he was a bad salesman. His decision to turn away business resulted in my purchase from 2K1Toaster instead.

No regrets, and I acquired a great education about my Prius.

 

I’m sure your new pack from 2K1Toaster will last much longer, and probably better performance too

 

A battery with New cells, whether it's from Toyota or otherwise, will always be a better long term option than a Used battery.

 

Yes, Lifetime Warranty

Yes, the Green Bean Battery website shows pricing, including labor. They also drive to your location to install the hybrid battery. My parents couldn't be happier.

 

Report back in 3 years. Be interesting to see how it holds up.

 

If you can not replace dead modules on your own, then there is no better company than green bean battery company. I needed a battery and was gonna go with them out of all the places. Fixed my battery for $25 and now I will give myself a lifetime warranty on the battery.

I'd dispute that a bit... Just look at the warranty rate over the past few years.

But if you're happy now and happy in a few months when it fails then good for you.

 

Wrong. If you cannot replace them battery on your own and do not have a reliable hybrid shop, the only reasonable option is a new pack installed by a Toyota dealer.

 

Wrong, if I went to toyota they would have me replace the battery. Thats costs thousands. I replaced one module for $25 now its like new

Wrong again, I am not guessing.
Use Dr. Prius app and it will tell you.
Then take off the bus bars and test each module until you get to the lowest voltage if you dont know the way they are configured. Buy however many you need and swap them out. Only thing that can be wrong now is you.

The process you have started is called whack a mole.

Replacing one module at a time is that process .

Continue as long as you like, but you are now resolved to doing that going forward.

You'll get good at pack removal and replacement.

 

The ONE(two?) module(s) you replaced is new, but not the whole pack.
You have one or two good strong ones, and the rest weaker.
That needs to be balanced.
Granted, if you don't have the money, you do what you can afford to do.

Sooner or later, the modules are going to fail. When? A day, week, month, year?????
Nobody really can say for sure.

 

Not my hybrid battery, it was replaced withing months of me buying the car and was still under the year warranty. Just had an issue that ended up killing a module, the rest of the pack is good because I actually tested each module myself over a period of three to four days recording the voltage drops of each module. I just replaced one module in block 12 which before showed up on the dashboard as a battery with only two bars and since I replaced the one module, it shows up as a battery with one to two bars away from full now.

This whole post shows what you don't understand to everyone that does.

The short version is voltage droop is one aspect of many that determine module health. And the health of the module is somewhat irrelevant as long as the modules are balanced between eachother and healthy enough to not singularly trip a safety. Replacing a single module in any pack is difficult to do properly because you need a very large bank of batteries to choose from to find your module's doppelganger. Without that, it is a temporary fix. Even with the best of matching the overall health is still poor and it is only a matter of time until another module dips too low or spikes too high because of many factors. Most commonly internal resistance and capacity loss or a combination. But can be other things.

You can believe what you want, but don't spread misinformation please. If you're happy with your fix, good. But it is a bandaid.

There's no need. You're not a trailblazer.

I not only work with these things I design them. When your battery fails, you know where to buy a real pack.

 

Good for you and I will for sure post in my results when it fails. I have nothing to hide only posting my results and money savings so relax take a breather, Im sure you are all worked up after all that angry typing you just did.

Correction. The modules they replaced are used, not yet failed modules likely from a pack that has started to fail. Toyota is the only one selling new modules for the pack and they only sell them as a full pack.
